Board Index Serious Shooters Concealed Carry

My first concealed carry.

For those legally permitted to carry a weapon or wanting to obtain their concealed pistol license.

Hay All,

The only "thigh" holsters I've seen are meant for open carry. They are intend to be used in tactical use such as a SWAT team would encounter. Makes the pistol easier to draw when you are crouching behind cover, etc. I've never seen one for concealed carry.

I can't recommend too highly the importance of getting training for Concealed Carry. One needs to know both the gun handling and the law. If your budget won't allow taking a class from a certified trainer, collect books and DVDs from recognized trainers and study them carefully. And, of course, practice a lot with an empty gun. As has been mentioned on this forum before, its real easy to make a deadly mistake. If one don't know the law, its equally easy to make a mistake that lands in prison.

@4fun - I am glad to hear you say that.....I thought the same way, and I read a post where a guy kept saying he conceals on his thigh, and I was completely baffeled at how.

as to your follow the laws and such comment, I am with you on that too. They are changing ever so quickly here in AZ, that I have no choice but to keep up with them.

John .I`m sorta newbie but you need ask self pistol or revolver. If a pistol try keltect p 9 if a revolver try a rugar lcr 38.Goggel what you like where you can find reveiws ,or try youtube .I like revolvers becouse they are almost foul proof (no jams ect ) .And dont be afraid to spend the extra 20.00-50.00 dollars on it as your conceal is your best friend .Get fmj to practice with and hollow points in it when you go out .Enjoy ,good luck,be safe.

john118242, the Glock 19 is one of the highest rated semis out there. A great range gun. Affordable ammo.

However, for a self defense sidearm, I would go with the .40 cal Glock 22, or the slightly smaller Glock 23. [I carried a G23 as a duty arm for a while]

The .40S&W cal is a walloper. I once saw a fellow take two in the chest [G22]... he was a goner before he hit the pavement.

My favorite 'business' calibers are: 45acp, .357Mag & .40S&W... in that order. [besides effectiveness, prosecutors & juries count holes and will hold them against you]

With Glocks, you need to consider having to keep the trigger covered at all times since there is no manual safety. Otherwise, they are near perfect.
