i've always belived in 3 simple rules that will 100% destroy any chanace of an accidental discharge or death

#1........if you dont want it dead, dont aim it at it.

#2........keep the triggey fingey off da boom boom switch.

#3........guns have safties for a reason, use them.

if you follow those 3 rules, even without any of the others, your usualy in the clear

although the second part of qustion 9 completely destoys how most ppl carry 1911's :-p

I have to agree with you Smith, I don't care for that #9 rule. It certainly doesn't apply with most people that have chosen to carry a 1911 cocked and locked. I'm a firm believer that if you carry a 1911, it should be carried in condition 1.

Here's a list of Coopers Conditions to spark your memory!

The legendary guru of the combat 1911, Jeff Cooper, came up with the "Condition" system to define the state of readiness of the 1911-pattern pistol. They are:

Condition 0 - A round is in the chamber, hammer is cocked, and the safety is off.

Condition 1 - Also known as "cocked and locked," means a round is in the chamber, the hammer is cocked, and the manual thumb safety on the side of the frame is applied.

Condition 2 - A round is in the chamber and the hammer is down.

Condition 3 - The chamber is empty and hammer is down with a charged magazine in the gun.

Condition 4 - The chamber is empty, hammer is down and no magazine is in the gun.

On a 1911, is there a Hammer Safety that prevents discharge if the Trigger is not pulled? IE: Walther, Glock, Revolvers etc.

The reason I ask is I don't like a Gun that makes any noise before you get to pull the Trigger, Like Racking or cocking first. They are recognizable noises that could get you killed, and takes more time.

i love the condition system, i dont carry a 1911.......i carry a pt-92 but if i were to use the system. my weapon is always condition "0" .......i have a internal firing pin safety, so unless i pull a 5lb trigger almost 2" back........it dont go bang lol but if i need to i dont have to worry about safties , i just pull the trigger :-p SA/DA is awesome :-D
