Not sure where to post this, but thoughts on the Tec-9 9mm gun. Bought this gun many, many moons ago. Any idea on its worth nowadays and can this gun be carried legally in a vehicle in Texas ?

Tec 9 in like new condition with 2 mags could bring $400.

Others would know better about TX laws.

Firearms laws can get 'real weird' from one place to the next.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying one several years ago. A guy I worked with found out his young son (20's) had purchased a brand new Tec-9. His son was known for getting into trouble, so Dad confiscated it. He carried it around in his truck for awhile and he asked me one day if I wanted it. NIB, 2 magazines and ammo included for $200 bucks and the price was negotiable. I said no.... I'm still mad at myself for letting that go.

Dang, I didn't see this question till now. My understanding is that in Texas a gun may be carried in your vehicle loaded but must remain concealed at all times, whether you are in the vehicle or not. Also, no license is required.

The Tec-9 being involved in that "assault weapon ban" BS makes me wonder on its status nowadays and whether this gun can be in carried in a vehicle.

True on the Texas law....since 2005, I believe.

The BATF classified the Tec-9 as a pistol.

The Tec 9 was among the 19 firearms banned by name in the USA by the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB). This ban caused the cessation of their manufacture, and forced Intratec to introduce a newer model called the AB-10.

After the AWB, Intratec introduced the AB-10, a TEC-9 Mini with a threaded muzzle and limited to a 10 round magazine instead of a 20, 32, 36, or 50 rnd box magazine. However, it accepted the high capacity mags of the pre-ban models. LOL

The AWB had no effect on crime during its 10 years and was allowed to sunset in 2004.

The Tec-9 and AB-10s are now unaffected by the so-called AWB of 1994.

They are legal in most of the lower 47, but ought to check with a local FFL dealer to be sure.

Chicago may not be ready for them, the Mayor there would stain his dainties at such a scary thing. LOLOL
