I've owned this carbine in .45 for a year now and it never cease to amaze me. Accurate, easy to clean and just fun to shoot.

The only problem I have is that even after 1 year, there still aren't magazines that hold more than 8 rounds available for it. I would love to use this in competition, but since I would be at a disadvantage with the 8 round limit, I haven't.

So for now, I'll rate it 4 bullets because of the magazine issues.

@ markej4801: thanks for the info. You sound like a 9 mm fan. Your right, dead is dead and the cost of ammo is a factor I am consdering. I do believe in 1 shot 1 kill and the .40 and .45 give you a better chance of that. But with the longer barrel the +P and +P+ 9mm rounds should deliver more energy down range @ 75- 100 yrds. If they do and the .40 and .45 don't have the same accuracy as the 9mm then thats the way to go. But, if the .40 and .45 are as accurite than it might be the way to go.

Either way, it sounds like the CX4 is a great weapon no matter what you choose. Thanks again for the for the info.

@ majsu: the limited mag is something that concerns me with the .45. But, good is good, and if it has the accuracy down range then it souldn't be a problem. Unless you are competing in an event that multiple targets that requires an high capasity mag.

Have you shot it out to 100 yrds?

Let me know if you find a high capasity mag. for the .45. Good luck with your compitions.

@mhj531: Action Steel and USPSA both are designed around a 10 round magazine. I can shoot with 8 rounders but it puts me at a disadvantage because it causes me to reload more frequently. It's doable but I need all the help I can get and extra reloads don't help.

There is someone at http://www.berettaforum.net working on a HC magazine, but it's not yet ready for distribution. When that is available the disadvantage goes away.

I have taken it out to 100 yards, but not often (I'm too lazy to walk that far to change targets ;-)). Storm seems to be accurate enough from the bench with a bi-pod and a scope. I'm not much of an iron site guy since I use red dots and scopes when I can.

Having fired both guns quite a bit, I can tell you that while the Cx4 has been flawless and worthy of a 5-bullet rating, so has my Hi-Point 45 carbine. Writing those things off because they are inexpensive is nothing but gun snobbery. Given the choice I'd personally take the Hi-point and the extra $500 in spending cash. I do love the Storm though too.

Am seriously considering the 9mm to buddy-up mags with my Cougar. My question- is the Storm factory rated to accept the +p&+p+ loads or does the manual state the generic "don't use" clause?

Oldhammer,

Haven't looked at the manual lately, but I distinctly remember it holds out well with +P. Not sure on the +P+, but the Beretta quality still stands. Other blogs indicate that both are OK, but may degrade barrel life. As it stands, I have shot +P with this and its PX4 brother without problem.

Regarding +P and +P+ all the manual says is "The extended use of +P, +P+ ammunition may decrease the minor components service life expectancy." (p 66).
