I just bought this gun in the Russian version yesterday and am wondering if hollowpoints would make a good home defense round because I don't feel comfortable shooting full metal jackets in my house in case I miss my target and it goes sailing through a series of dry walls. How much less penetration would hollow points have?

Well ok but if it's a hollow point then will the lead stop once it hits ones flesh or will it go through them and then go through a series of walls behind them?

its a jacketed bullet with a vol of approx 2300 ft per second, its going to keep on going and rocking&rolling....you can get a soft tip rd in winchester for hunting, but most rds that arn,t pistol, shotgun, are going to keep on going,if you can find personal defence rds in 7.2by39 that would work.I haven,t seen ant....

anything going 2400 fps is going to penetrate into a wall and beyond in a defense situation. bullet type does not matter. hollow points and soft points can not open fast enough at that range to keep the bullet from going through. get a 45acp for defense. sks for everything else

I have 3 sks Rifles 2 Chinese and 1 Russian and i personally think they are great Firearms...they are fun to shoot, collect and they are extremely tough and i find them very accurate within 100-200 yds which is exactly what they were designed for.. what more you can you ask for?

I brought one of these SKS rifles back from Shakey's Hill in Cambodia.

It was stolen from me in Hawaii.

I'm sure they needed it more than the sentamental value for me.

sometimes life just sucks

I know it has been a while.

This is 922r compliant. To many parts for me to list right now as I am in a hurry.

SKS Sporter converted.
