Ak47-This gun is amazing..It is a very cheap gun and will shoot under any conditon.. YOu can burry this gun in sand and still trust it with your life to fire!!

CZ dude its semi auo for sure..Its against the law to buy full auto.. If you guys are ever bored watch the lord of war with nicolas cage its amazing and the begining tittle screen it talks about this gun and its amazing

Couldnt agree more. The AK is so sloppy that it will fire in almost any condition you can put it up against, wether its sand or water whatever! An excellently designed weapon, it definatly serves its purpose. Although not the greatest accurracy wise it still can put some nice groups!

AK's are definitely a rugged gun. In Vietnam, many a Grunt finished a firefight with an AK they took off a dead enemy, when their p.o.s. M-16's stopped working.

I want one because it's cheap and fires the 7.62 round.

The M16 issue was corrected radio and since has been carried up to current day for a reason. I carried the M16A2 In the Marine Corps among other things as an infantrymachinegunner and it is an excellant rifle. I dont argue the AK47 is a "true" icon but unfortunately it is the weapon of the enemy and not as accurate as the 22 on steroids .223 round which also does nasty things to the human body.

The good thing about the commy rifle/extreme muslim fundamentalist rifle/ is you are right. It's more rugged than anything on earth and holds up. However the cheezy barrels heat up so bad even after only a few rounds the accuracy sucks on them at anything greater than 50 yards. I guess if they improved the barrels and made them way thicker or chrome lined like most AR types tht would do the trick. For the money an SKS is hard to beat also. Shoots better than the copy AK and is lower price.

I hear ya, Patrol. I was a Marine, as well. I know the newer M-16 is a better rifle. Although, I've heard rumors that they have trouble with the dust and dirt in the "sandbox".

I actually first qualified with the M-14 in boot camp, and prefer that rifle. My DI's would tell us tales of using it in Vietnam, and they also preferred it. It was primarily a sniper's rifle when I got there. I didn't fire, or even see an M-16, until I arrived in country, in '69. My experiences with it were not pleasant.

Anyway, I hear you on the "commie gun" issue, but my desire for an AK is based on price and caliber. I want something that will fire a 7.62 round, and also fits within my budget. I would much rather have an M-14, but they are just too pricey for me.

I may still opt for an AR. I have a nice little 9mm Beretta CX-4 carbine, which fits the bill for a good little gun for mid-range tactical situations. So, I am not exactly burning to get an AK, and may wait until I have the money for an M-14.

They made me learn how to use one when I was a kid in central america, damn socialist maniacs (can't mention which country, sorry). It's a hell of a rifle and yes it will work in any condition; chilling cold, dry heat and high humidity. Wish I had one now. At least for the novelty of it. It brings back nastalgia. Oh well, California is so up tight I can't even own a de-activated assault rifle.

That's another reason I want to get an AK, M-14, or AR soon. If the stinking democrats get control, they will turn the entire country into california.

I read somewhere (maybe on this forum) that AR's sold in california have to have the mag wells welded shut, and retrofitted with internal magazines that hold only three rounds.... what a crock!!!
