I have a stainless 6 full lug GP100 and I have to say my initial impression of the pistol is pure delight. Best revolver I have owned and a real hand cannon. Very easy to shot and excellent accuracy!!! In the world of spinners it is a real bargain over some of the higher end pistols. A++

I own this gun and all I can say is that its the best gun I own. I bought it new for $399 and I got a $50 gift card from the dealer and I used it to buy ammo for it. AAA+++ GUN!!!

This gun made me a Ruger fan. Simple yet innovative. With the simplicity of a revolver and the innovations of the easy open push button for opening the cylinder to reload it and the all comfortable grips for my big hands... I would say just hold it and pull back on that hammer and see if you are not already sold. I could see and feel the innovation of this gun before I even fired it and I did not feel it in my checkbook as it is reasonbly priced. I have the .357 mag stainless 4 barrel. Have shot it many different occasions, and I think the only functional problem I can think of is the empty cartridges often needing assistance coming out when ejecting. But that may be a common revolver issue, I dont know, maybe it is because I dont clean my gun all that much too

Hands down I would recommend the GP100 to my family and my friends if they were looking to buy a pistol.

I bought the GP-100 around the beginning of November. The model I have is the 6 inch barrel in stainless steel. This is a positively fantastic weapon. I yet to have a misfire, and everything Ive put through it (except the Remington UMC) has been very accurate. With the 6inch barrel, even .357s dont kick much. Combine the low recoil with a pretty smooth trigger, makes it a very easy gun to fire rapidly. The only issues I have with the gun is that (A) even through the trigger is pretty good, it could be better. That may come with use (I only have about 300 shots through it). (B) The front site is a pain the ass. The guns fires with a 6 oclock sight perspective. And what makes it a pain is that the front blade is entirely black, so any dark target is impossible to read well. This can be rememdied easily by ordering a $13 red blade from Ruger -I am just critizing the gun as it comes out of the case. All in all, very comfortable gun, more attractive than a smith in my opinion, and an ambsolute blast to shoot -just could use a couple easy modifications.

I agree that the Ruger GP100 is one fine revolver. I have one myself in SS with a 4 barrel. The gun is so strudy you could virtually unload in and use it as a mallot. But that is beside the point. As for your two problems. A competant gun smith with experience doing action jobs could smooth out both the DA and trigger pull. As for the sights, I just has a set of High Viz sights installed on mine and they are nothing short of increadible. They do without moving parts or batteries or radiation a pretty darn good job of di[oing what night sights, red dots and holographic sights do. Try both and you will be very pleased with a gun that you will never sell. Like mine, it is destined to be a family heirloom.

Allow me to go a few steps further in heaping praise on the Ruger GP100. As I mentioned in a previous post a relatively inexpensive action job and High Viz sights will turn this gun into a smooth and accurate shooting .357/.38 that will shoot as well as any the best from Colt, such as the Python, or any of the top end Smiths.

The moderately heavy weight, heavy full lug barrel and neoprene grips really absorb and tame recoil. Even though I am fairly muscular I have small wrists and heavy recoiling handguns beat the daylights of my writst, but the GRP100 is very mild mannered. Ad it is strong.

I once bought a box of extremely hot loads from a local ya ho. The first round sprang the frame on my brothers Colt Python, formerly regarded as the worlds finest revolver by many in the field. My Ruger kept shooting on with the hot stuff with the only problem being my wrist that felt like I had been slugged in the hand with a baseball bat.

I buy and sell guns all the time keeping the ones I like and selling the ones I dont, but this Ruger GR100 is one gun I will never part with. This one is a keeper.

An excellent revolver, mine is stainless steel with the 5 inch barrel. This gun can handle all types of ammunition including strong hunting loads. A much preferred pistol over the Red Hawk which in its own name sake is quite the gun. I have a mounted scope on mine and have successfully taken deer up to 50 yards with one shot. At 25 yards I can place all six shots in a 2 inch cirle. 50 yards I average a 5 inch circle. An excellent gun for hunting close quarters as I do in the heavily wooded areas of Michigan and Wisconsin.

Have it in 6 stainless. Nice gun, fun to shoot. Laugh everytime I go to the range and take it out and see all these punks (gangbanger wannabes) shooting their rented 9mms stare at my gun.

Just found out that Ruger makes a factory short rounded grip for the fixed sight models. This may be perfect if I can get these smaller grips to put on my GP100 for my girlfriends small hands. I hope I hope...She can shoot the GP 100 and does so now, but it is a little to big for her small hands.

Just today she held the S&W airlight 637 revolver and says it is the best feeling gun she has held so far. I am torn because well I kinda wanted to get a SP 101 for her/me but now...ahh that is ok I guess I will just have to get both now
