I've been carrying a Tuarus 24/7 9mm for about a year now. I am a little scrawny and have to wear larger fishing style shirts or button up shirts long enough to cover the gun. Recently I borrowed a p232 in .380 from a collector friend of mine and I don't think I'll be able to give it back! Even on a small frame like mine, 5' 11" and 158 lbs I can hide this thing in an outside the belt holster in just a large Tshirt.

A trip to the range confirmed that it is a solid piece with great accuracy and no ftf or fte. The grip is large enough to feel like a full size pistol but the rest of the piece is small enough to tuck away discreetly. I originally borrowed it so my small wife would have something she could handle for home defense during the times I am away. She is not a fan of my full size 9mm. We are going to the range tomorrow to have her put some rounds through it. We'll see how she likes it!

So even though the kick on this guy is less than my Taurus 24/7 9mm she still wasn't a fan. I'll probably have to go even smaller to a .32 or even a .22lr to raise her comfort level.

Definitely love my 232SL but I am having a hard time finding nite sights. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the 3 P232 options - Blue, Two Tone, and Stainless? I'm interested in CC, and "looks" don't matter. What benefits do the Two Tone and Stainless have that offset the weight difference. I'm a newb and I'm curious re. the practical benefits of the heavier models. Thanks.

Hey RDF. welcome to the forum.

The stainless model is heavier which means it may have less recoil when shooting. The alloy models are about 5 oz. lighter, which means they are easier to carry.

Some people complain about the recoil of the P232 and other blow-back operated .380s. I am not one of those people. My wife has no problem shooting the alloy P232 either. But the light weight and dimensions makes the P232 one of the very best CCW, in my opinion. I like that the P232 has room for all four of my fingers on the grip, which is not the case in most other compact pistols. This gun is very easy to fire accurately and quickly. I use an IWB from JMG Holsters and it is comfortable all day.

It's not cheap, but it is still a bargain.

All three versions have a stainless slide. The P232SL also has a stainless frame, while the blue version has an alloy frame.

I think the two tone has the alloy frame, too, but the slide is left bright. I don't find the sights as easily or quickly as I do on the blued slide.

I like the SIG night sights very much and they show up well on the blue slide.

There does not seem to be any durability issues with the alloy frame on any SIG pistol, based on my experience and what I have read on Sigforum. They have made this for about 25 years (it was the P230) so the record seems good.

I purchased a new P232 with the alloy frame/stainless slide. I ordered the night sights from Sig, my gunsmith couldn't get the old sights off so I changed them out when I got home. I added Pau Ferro wood grips from Hogue. The weapon has been as flawless as it is good looking. I was so happy I bought the wife a Sig P238 with the black alloy frame/stainless slide, night sights and factory rosewood grips. It too has been flawless. As to jamming issues I can't speak for others but I always shoot premium ammo. I have found range ammo can cause problems.

I just bought a P232 and it double feeds constantly ... so far I have had no luck with Sig's service dept

The sig model p232 changed in 2009, and it's been a jam-a-matic ever since
