Field Stripping PPK/S



Mine was nearly impossible at first. Here is what I did. I am right handed, so take that into consideration. Also, sit in the floor and lay out a white sheet or something in case the extractor comes out so that you will see where the lever and spring drops to.



1) Put on some leather gloves. If you loose your grip it will stop you from getting some nasty pinches!

2) Remove clip

3) Check to make sure it is unloaded

4) Turn safety ON

5) Grasp PPK/S by handle with LEFT hand with barrel pointing away from you.

6) Hold gun in front of you with barrel pointing to your right.

7) Firmly grasp slide with RIGHT hand.

8) As hard and quick as you can force slide open by pushing to the right with your left hand while pushing to the left with your right hand.

9) While slide is all the way back use the thumb of your right hand and push up on the bottom of the slide directly below the sights. Do this while applying constant force to keep the slide all the way back.

10) While the thumb of your right hand pushes up, roll your right hand clockwise. At this point the slide on my PPK/S raises up.

11) Allow the slide to move forward slightly, not all the way, because if you let it go all the way you are in danger of losing the extractor spring.

12) While still grasping the gun firmly, turn the gun so that you can see the left side of the gun and slide.

13) Take your left index finger and place it on the exposed extractor lever that has been revealed beneath the slide. Hold this extractor lever in place.

14) Allow slide to go forward and carefully work it off of the barrel.



DONT let that extractor lever come off. It just sits in there! If so make sure you dont lose the small V shaped spring.

What is a stovepipe jam? Mine jams usually with the extracted cartridge not fully ejected and the new round not fully chambered. Sometimes both spent and new round are jammed above the magazine such that the slide cannot go forward. Any help will be appreciated.

I was looking at a ppk and on the one side it had 380 cal and .9mm. Will they relly shot both?

The ppk will not shoot both. the 380 is a 9mm round its just a shorter 9mm size bullet 9x17 compared to the 9x19 9mm round. It has 9mm kurtz on the gun that is probably a german translation or something like that.

I know it says 9mm kurz/380 . in european countrys they call the 380 a 9mm kurz. since the walther is sold over seas as well they translate it so they will know what caliber to use. In other words the 380 is the same as a 9mm kurz.

Though the PPK & PPK/S are attractive looking, mine is about as effective as a brick. It even jams on ball ammo after 30 rounds.



I traded it in for a new Sig P232 stainless.

Sigs work. Walthers wont.

I have almost had my PPK/S for almost a year (bought it used) and have not had a chance to shoot it much because of my travels. But the few times I have been able to shoot it it has jammed every time. Is there a best ammo to use to stop the jamming? The dealer I bought it from sent it back to S&W for repair and it still had the same problem when it came back. I am almost ready to trade it for something else.

Does anyone know what the S in PPKS stands for? I know its a PP frame with a PPK top end but what does the S stand for?

I bought the Walther PPK 380 last week and put 100 rounds through it in 30 minutes. The gun never jammed, hiccuped or hesitated. I was VERY impressed by the tight patterns at 25 yards. This is an excellent weapon, especially for CCW. Its small, concealable and still packs a nice wallup with the .380 round.
