I was at the range yesterday and my night sights worked beautifully. I can not ask for a better CCW gun. "Kimber is great."

I am thinking about buying a new guildrod and spring for this firearm. The new one will be for CC, and the other one will be for the range. I just don't want to wear out my spring in case I really need it oneday. Do you think this is a good idea?

Sounds like a good idea. The 3'' models need to maintain proper slide speed to be reliable. I killed My spring quickly in an Ultra Raptor, (under 1000 rounds) but I also ran a ton of +P, so it probably contributed to an early death. It's about $45 for the spring/guide rod.

Thank you for the responce, because like you I have put many rounds through my 3" U.C. Althrough I mostly use 185 & 230g rounds, the last thing I need is a week spring when shit hits the fan.



I was just looking at guide rod and spring on the Kimber site and you are correct the price is $45. I think I will go ahead and plaace this order. Thank you again.

After you purchase another Spring(s) and guide rod from Kimber, you can send the old one in, and they will rebuild it for about half the price of a new unit.



On another note, I read somewhere that the small inner spring does not do a lot, and you can replace the outer spring about 3 times before you have to replace both Springs.



I have a Ultra Eclipse on whichI have replaced the outer spring twice so far, and it has worked out just fine.



You might want to also order two or three outer springs only and give it a try. It will save you some bucks.

I didn't think about that but I will look into it. I would like to thank you for that responce and suggestion. This is a big reason way I like this site, so many minds with good information all in one place.

Don't forget to check out the KimberStainless TLE II. It is very, very accurate out of the box. Has incredible balance, easy grip, and a pistol I'd love to have several of for home defense. Very little kick, took the entire 2" out of the target at thirty feet.

I've never had the thumb safety move inadvertently on any of My 1911's. What type of holster are You using?

Did You word Your post correctly? How could the safety engage if the pistol isn't cocked?
