I owned a Beras Thunder 45. Notice past tense.(Police confiscation. Thats a whole nother story) The sights were useless and everyone i handed it to agreed. Accuracy got worst over time. And withing my first two hundred rounds my magazine release broke turning it into a $400.00 paper weight. Now that was the 45 i also owned the 380 which was fine.(read the comment in the 380 section to get my opinion of that weapon) Bersa simply isnt a good company. Id rather go with a crappy Hi-Point before i got another Bersa.

Shot another 100 rounds with my Bersa 40 S&W, for the first time loaded 13 rounds in the mag., and the gun shot smooth as silk. No fail to feeds, and accurate.

Have over 600 rounds thru my Bersa UC9 with no failures. Accurate, reliable, cost-effective, easy to carry and conceal, I am a big UC9 fan!

I am a southpaw and am planning to acquire a Bersa MiniThunder UltraCompact in .45 Would anyone know if this one has an ambidextrous safety and mag release?

to GDelarosa: I have a Bersa UC9 and it is fully ambidextrous. According to the Bersa-Eagle website, so is the UC45.

Here is a link to the UC45 manual that states "fully ambidextrous".

http://www.bersafirearmsusa.com/pdf/manual45940.pdf

You'll have to cut and past the link.

Hope this helps.

To jay1958: Thanks so much for your heads-up. This is just what I'm looking for. However, BersaEagle doesn't display UltraCarry 45 among the available ones. I'm just suspecting you can obtain it only by special order.

Thanks again

Bersa Thunder 9 Ultra Compact 9mm / Firestorm mini 9

I love this handgun. I was impressed with it's accuracy. With it's 3 1/2in barrel, I was standing back at 56 yards, aiming in and taking out bowling pins. DA 13 pounds a hard pretty hard pull, and SA is 5 pounds, nice and and easy. The first pull of the slide is harder when the hammer is not cocked.

The ergonomics are great! I love the built in finger slots. The guns fits my medium to large sized hands well. I'm glad there is a finger hook on the bottom of the mag otherwise my pinkie would be dangling.

I've blasted 400 rds of Win. usa through it without any probs. I like the rear sight which has a white outline instead of dots. I think it provides faster target acquisition.

The only downside to this pistol is that it only comes with one mag and extra mags are EXPENSIVE! The best price I could find for another mag was $42 from cheaper than dirt.

I picked up my uc9 used, off of gunbroker for $275 total, with shipping and transfer fees. I saw the Firestorm version, brand new in Michigan for $309 including tax, but with shipping and transfer it would have been close to $350.
