A terribly sad day.....

A terribly sad day.....

Postby tigwelder56 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:36 am

I had to euthanize my best friend. I rescued him 12 years ago and did my best to keep him going. But age and pain got the best of him. Which lead me to make the most difficult decision of our lives. I decided that I had been selfish long enough and made the call. A friend (Vet) came here to the house and while I held my buddy in my arms, he was put to sleep. Anyone that has ever had to do this understands the painful emptiness I'm feeling right now. I can't remember a time I ever shed as many tears as I did after this.

I really miss my friend, I wish you all could've known him. What a buddy...

Thank you Judge, very much... I have never had to end the life of a best friend and would rather not ever have to do something like it again.

Tig, Sorry about your loss. I had to do the same thing last year. She was terminal [13 yrs old] and I got it done before the suffering started. Hurts exactly the same as a human family member.

It wasn't the first time and certainly won't be the last.

I will always have a good dog until the day the dog looses me.

Tig. I too offer you my sympathy for the difficult decision you had to make. I wish I could say something that could ease the empty feeling you now have. When you have done all that you can for your little buddy, the last and hardest act is to stop their pain. You did what was right Tig.

I lost my little buddy 3 years and 3 months ago...you never forget.

I am sorry.

Thanks you guys. It was a very peaceful passing for him. He was always terrified of needles so the Vet gave him a sedative beforehand. I think they should offer one to the owner too. This is a great help with the grief and I appreciate your thoughts greatly.

My sincerest sympathies for you, Tig...

Such a thing, is one more reason

I hate this Universe...

It never gets any easier...

and dawgs are friends that never get

anymore closer a pal...

Like when my wife gets irked

with me... Gunny barks on my behalf...

and both of us get sent, together,

out to the barn
