military switch to 45acp?

Postby wyf » Sat Oct 30, 2010 5:34 pm

I keep hearing now and again that the armed forces are talking about switching to a sidearm in 45acp in somethin like a USP but didn't they just give beretta a new contract?

Why not a 1911, becouse they would have to admit the were WRONG in switching in the first place

Yeah im stirring the pot trying to get a good thread going he he he

Not going to happen. 9mm is the standard and will be for the near future. If anything, rounds like the 5.7 will set a new standard. In military terms pistols aren't that useful and the ones that really need to use them will get what they want. Like a Russian officer once told me, a pistol is only good for commiting suicide.
