Hand gun cost ?

The price is going up. They are selling like crazy.

inflation. just like everything else. hell in 2003 i bought my first 6906 for $245 NIB, 2 mags and a kydex holster. last week i bought my 6th 6906 used 1 mag for $650............so as we get older prices go higher. it sucks.

the being bought like crazy part scares me though, only because i dont know whos buying. todays younger generation is becoming increasingly violent and disrespectful. if those are the ppl buying. im frightened. if its level headed armed citizens..........alright :-)

I think it may be that more people are adding to their collections rather than trading or standing pat. Fewer used guns seem to be in the cases and some dealers I have spoken to say new sales with no trade are more common.

I think the rapid trend in innovations may be part of the driver. Lots of new possibilities to try. 30 years ago there was one basic design for semi-autos - SAO w/safety and single stack. Now you can get the same model in three or four possible configurations, more grip styles, even adjustable, the same model may have several calibers. People write about their summer gun, winter gun, etc.

And do not forget half the population is women and they are getting into shooting sports in ever increasing numbers and the gun manufacturers are designing pistols especially for them.

Believe it or not, when you factor in INFLATION, guns are actually cheaper today than when I bought my first gun.

EXAMPLE: It takes $1,489.44 in 2011 to buy what $200.00 would buy you in 1962. Shows you how worthless our money is becoming ... but I digress.

Conversely, the $650 smith6906 recently spent on a gun would only be worth $87.28 in 1962 money. So smith6906, when you factor in INFLATION, you just bought your gun for a measly $87.28. NOT BAD! Not bad at all.
