New Pop Up Ad MUST GO!!!

Postby tigwelder56 » Tue Dec 09, 2008 2:41 pm

That annoying damn pop up appearing at the top of the page has got to go. That kind of advertising just pisses people off. It'll drive people away. Please lose it asap!

Agreed. Users of this site won't tolerate that kind of add.

Wow, I just logged in to leave a complaint about that! I was irritated this morning when I checked in. That ad cheapens the image of this Site. Yes, it has to go.

Yes, I got sent to Walmart! It's a pop up with some balls too. I've got two good blockers and that ad cuts right through them. Those types of ads definitely cheapen the site. The minute people start getting slammed with trash ads and the garbage that comes with them, they'll leave and never return. It has been proven that people really hate that kind of advertising and will go to great lengths to avoid it.

There definitely needs to be less "in your face" advertising, if they think I'm going to buy something because it forces me to a Site, or the ad makes annoying beeping noises, they're wrong! I'm willing to accept the fact that there may be some experimentation going on right now, but lets keep it WELL MANNERED PLEASE! Remember why People come back here; it's the People!! Most Members enjoy the People here! That's why this place wasn't all but abandoned during the recent problems.

You definitely should never have a 'popup' or redirect. We certainly dont want that. please give me details if and when this is happening. you should only be seeing inline ads and we are aiming them to be non-obstrusive.

Today at 1330, I logged into my account and once logged in, the trouble started. I attempted to make a reply to a post and two things happened. First thing that happened, a banner ad pop up made its way through two good (I thought) blockers. It was a damn PORN pop up!! This hasn't ever happened before. After the newest banner ads came online, I've been getting loads of crap when I log on to the forum. The second thing that keeps happening, when I attempt to make a post or reply, more times than not I'm being redirected to Walmart and the Yellow Pages website. I'm getting banner ads that start flashing and has a bell ringing over and over until I change web pages. Whatever has happened is far from "non-obtrusive".....

There are currently no ads installed. If anyone continues to have issues, the problem lies elsewhere from an attacker or spammer, and we will deal with it in a different approach. Please keep us informed.
