For the 87 octane it's about $3.20 average and for the good stuff it's about $3.80 average. Good ol southern California.

Why?The question might as well be,'how?! We John Q.get ripped off and we accept it.We keep buying it.Well, my wife does...(I cannot drive any mo'.Narcoleptic.) Opec sets the price, they all hate us,so it will be high.American Oil won't complain, they get the same price for crude too.Arabian Oil wants to monopolize the refracting end too,at the expense of our American Refiners. Like, B.F.L.O.,NY had three Refineries. All gone and forgotten now!(I used to ,well, grew up a few blocks from a Mobile refinery, now a gas tank farm. And if one follows Oil Industry trade,a massive band of shale/sand oil runs from Pennzy up through Canada,Alaska under the Bering sea through Siberia to the Urals, then down, flowing with the 'Stans to Iran,Iraq,Arabia,Finally funneling into Africas' Interior. And soon to be discovered, through new detection and verification technologies,Pacific,Atlantic and Yaaaa, save MaMa Earth...Antartica!! Not to mention Methane deposits.Actually sheets within Oceanic plains.Fer cryin' out loud, the stuff flows through the Earth like blood in our bodies.Gasoline, realistically, should sell for twenty seven cents a gallon. We've been had....

Lucky I work close, but on vacation I went though almost $200! It dosen't help I tuned my truck computer for 93 octane, I could go back, but that bigger, faster, tighter mentality will bother me.

Shaman, you hit it right on the money sir. I guess our addiction to our need for tranportation luxury has us over the opec barrel but why should we complaint when we continue to pay the prices. Weapons of Mass Destruction my ass, oil is the reason for the iragi war.
