FL CCW

Is it possible to obtain a CCW in Florida if you are not a resident?

I am a SC resident going to school in Indiana and Ohio. SC has reciprocity with OH, but not with IN.

Florida's CCW has reciprocity in nearly every state that I travel in/through, so they seem like a logical choice.

I know that it is possible here in Texas to get a Florida license as they were selling them in my CHL class for just the purpose you are describing. You may want to look it up in your state though.

If you have a CCW that is recognized by Florida, that's all you need. I think the state with the highest reciprocity is Utah.

Check the laws of the states you will be carrying or traveling in. Some do not extend reciprocity to non-resident permits.

Hey Rook, I was checking some old posts and thought I'd check with you to see if you ever went forward with your Florida CCW? Let us know if you succeeded!

Best, Tig
