Our elected officials are retarded. And Chicago? I don't know what their problem is. Maybe they WANT the National Guard on the South and West sides, because at the rate things are going in that town, that's exactly what's going to have to happen.

One must keep in mind that organized crime has ruled in Chicago for decades. The unrestrained thuggery of union bosses and known corruption and scandal in city government, and Mayor Daley's documented history are evidence that criminals control local laws and ordinances for Chicago -- up to and including the Governor's Office (remember Rod Blagojevich). Chicago also produced the likes of Al Capone, Obama, Rahm Emanuel, etc., etc.

These unsavory characters and dirty politicians would be very uncomfortable if its "law abiding" citizens were permitted to carry weapons. After all, they might return fire.

Instead, Chicago has defenseless citizens who are wholly dependent on city government for "so-called protection". That dependency gives rise to bigger city government, more government control and higher taxes -- the mantra of liberal politicians.

I agree with you SW and I would suspect most everyone else here as well. What is sad is that so many of the potential victims in this country would like to follow suit of a place such as Chicago and feel that gun control is the answer. Then when they get robbed they blame law enforcement, call for even tougher restrictions that won't work except for in favor of the criminals, rather than considering their own fault in throwing away at least one type of self defense.
