Reliable bullet design

Postby pastorfarley » Wed Jan 05, 2011 12:54 pm

I have been thinking that a bullet which combines a solid copper expanding nose with the Nosler partition rear would give a very reliable expansion deep penetrating bullet. I know this must have been thought of before, and I think I may even remember one being developed, anyone know of one currently available?

I found Swift A-Frame and Winchester bullets and loads that use the partition design but not the copper front. They are heavy weight (180 gr in .357) and seem to expand to a smaller diameter than personal defense bullets. Even this design in a lower weight with the partition moved back to allow a bigger mushroom diameter would provide excellent performance.
