Mini 14 is reliable, accurate and the .223 ammo does not cost a fortune. If you plan to customize it out, you will end up spending a good amount of money. If you get an AR in the future, make sure you get a COLT, Bushmasters are cheaper for a reason.
Mini 14s are anything but accurate. Reliable?, yes if Ruger magazines are used. There in lies the problem. Ruger in its infinate wisdom, will not sell Hi-Cap magazines to their Mini 14 customers because of some stupid policy old man Ruger continues to administrate from the grave. This forces Mini 14 owners to use aftermarket Hi-Cap magazines, many of which do not work well, if at all. An AR-15 is the far better purchase. I have 3 Bushmasters, and they are as accurate and reliable as any AR type weapon out there. There is nothing wrong with Colt, except for the fact they are overpriced for what they are. Much like their 1911 models. The Colt Gold Cup is a well made gun. Ive had one since 1973, but there are other makes like Springfield Armory and Kimber that surpass Colt. Its much the same with AR-15 type rifles. Bushmaster did $65 MILLION dollars in sales last year of AR-15 type rifles and components. Their weapons are as good or better than any manufactured to date.
