This is the first gun I ever shot. At the age of thirteen, my grandfather let me take the shotgun quail hunting. My first shot took down two quail & set me on my backside. I now am the owner of my grandfather's 1897. This has been with me through most of my life. It has always shot great & has been the most dependable shotgun I've used. As a kid, the barrel was 30 inches. When I went into LEO, it became my riot gun as I had it shortened to 18 3/4 inches. That's the only work it's had on it except for repairing a split in the stock and it still shoots great!.
