I own an 870 12 gauge super mag, hunted with 870's since I was a kid. Very dependalbe gun, kinda loud racking it as opposed to the mossberg 500 I had (it was a little quieter, and held 5+1 opposed to the 870's 4+1). The only trouble I've seen with with mine is that when shooting a 3 1/2 inch shell, ejecting the spent cartridge is hard, feels tight even. I suppose it will loosen up the more I shoot it, but the 2 3/4's are so darn cheap and the 3.5's are so darn expensive. Also, when I shoot a 2 3/4 shell through it, and rack another in, if I'm not careful both the spent casing and unfired shell will eject. Anybody else ever have this problem?

I own a Rem 870 with an 18" barrel & an extended mag tube (6+1). I keep it loaded with Remington Low recoil 00 buckshot by my bed for Home defense. I use low recoil shells in case my wife has to defend herself. I trust my life to this gun. No problems so far at all. Good shotgun for the money!!!
