First shotgun I owned as a kid. What can you say about this great gun? Tough, durable, inexpensive, and you dont mind dragging it through the brush after rabbits, squirrels or birds. It has never given me a reason to complain.

The 870 is an american shotgun classic. One of my all time favorites.

Put 1100 rounds through one straight out of the box (no pre-cleaning) first weekend I had it. No problems with the gun, massive bruising on my shoulder though.

I think that the remington 870 and the mossberg 500 are the two most underated shotguns on the market. They are well priced, totally reliable and very adaptable for any hunting/defense/rec. shooting situation you'll ever come across!

The 870 is a great gun. I've dropped it in the mud, while duck hunt...swished it through the water in the blind till it was clean (as cean as I could get it) and it shot like new. Me and my friends were taking down more ducks than these other guys and their "fancy expensive" Benellis.

This is a great gun all around, home defense, hunting, and skeet shooting too! My opinion, but you can't put it down cause it's a great gun!

I don't think there is a better shotgun out there than the 870. Sure you could buy something for a lot more. But for an all around pump shotgun I own and use the 870. Not fancy, just functioning.

For those thinking of purchasing one you have so many options within the 870 family. Get a free catalog from Remington to see what will work for you. Tactical, pistol grip, etc.

I have owned the standard twelve guage for 12 years and love it. I just recently bought the 20 guage youth model so my wife could more easily shoot it. I would not feel outgunned using her 20 guage for defense.
