This is by far my best pistol.I bought a taurus 38 and the quality is just not there. The ruger is so much better.I should have bought a S & W snub nose instead.

I've been a Ruger fan for years. This revolver does credit to the name. Easy to shoot, very accurate, great 'feel'. Could use a little brighter front sight. I placed a white dot of acrylic enamel on front blade, and was able to pick up the front sight very quickly. This also may not be the very best pistol for anyone with small hands (as I have.) However, with a two handed grip - no problems. Love the rosewood and rubber combo grip - great positive feel.

Just got my GP-100 today! Picked it up around 10 and haven't put it down yet. I am new to gun collecting and this is my first revolver. It is very comfortable to shoot and doesn't mind having hundreds of rounds go through it right from the box! I would highly reccomend this gun to anyone beginner to avid collectors!

I've had my GP100 for about five years now and I love it. It's very accurate but I also placed a white dot on the front blade. It's easy to shoot and it does have a great feel.

I am looking to buy a revolver in .45 ACP. Is this revolver in that caliber or is it LC 45? Thanks for the help.

I think the .45 Colt listing is a typo. I've never seen the GP100 in anything but .357/.38 .

This is a REAL gun - accurate, powerful, flexible, simple to use and it is substantial enough to dampen most recoil. The gun just feels good in the hand and instills confidence. It fires .357's, .38+P's and .38 specials with equal ease and effectiveness. Revolvers are Ruger's forte and the GP100 has to be the creme de la creme. It is the best all-around pistol I have ever fired, thus, it should be the first choice for a home defense weapon. I am not a hunter, but given its power, accuracy and substance, with the right ammo, it is a supurb backup piece, particularly when you are carrying a shotgun.

I am embarrassed to say that at the gun range the other day I blew the cylinder apart on the sixth round in my two year old Ruger GP 100, froze it forever in place and even bent the backstrap above it. I am new to reloading and despite what I thought was extremely diligent re-checking, MUST have double loaded a round of .357 with not 7.2 gr's of Tightgroup but 14+. The brass was only once fired. Can't think of any other explanation. Thank God no one was injured.

I confess this blatant stupidity, carelessness whatever, just to remind all other beginners to take the oft-repeated warnings carefully. I now know that using my single Lee press I will have to check the powder level of each shell in the loading block with a FLASHLIGHT!

I worry that the deserved reputation of this fine gun might lead someone to believe it invulnerable to careless, distracted behavior.

I miss the gun already and will watch carefully for a bargain replacement.

Believe me, I'm beating myself up about this one. Probably no need for another smack up the head.
