Beretta 8000 Cougar Reviews

Discuss and review everything about the pistol, from the original 1911, to the modern compact semi-automatic.

I am thinking that the 8045 Beretta may be more reliable than even the "loaded" 1911's from Springfield or the various Kimber models. I have owned three different 1911 Colt's which were all prone to stove piping an empty now and then. The rotating barrel system on the Beretta looks pretty good from here. I am from the old school of folks who feel that the .45 ACP is still the best caliber for a carry pistol. The champion of man stoppers.

Take a look at the XD45. Mine goes bang every time. I think 45 is the cal to carry. It has worked for over 90 years.

The XD is a fine weapon. The Cougar is just as good, for $200 less. Your call. You'd probably be happy with either choice. As for me, I'm happier saving $200 for holsters and accessories. Quality is comparable (Springfield and Beretta).

I have been looking at the wrong places. Were I have looked the prices were about the same. One thing I don't care for is slide mounted safties.

Nothing wrong with the XD. I may get one after I pick up a S&W snubbie for the pocket. Also, if you like the Don Hume 721 OT for OWB, and want to try a IWB, check out UBG (http://www.ubgholsters.com/products.html) The Canute is great.
