Would have rated a zero if it were available,at least 2 malfunctions per magazine. I tried over 300 rounds! I took it back and traded it for another brand name handgun that works.

I bought one new in 1984 and still have it. I has been very reliable. The fit and finish is not Colt, but neither was the price. I think the quality was verible, thus if you get a good one youre O.K., but if you get a bad one......

I have had my AMT hardballer for over a year now and would trust it anywhere. The quality is excellent and have had no malfunctions of any kind. Just installed Crimson Trace laser Grips on it and what a combination! Accuracy is consistent and it is a pleasure to shoot. Will not sell this gun ever and use it for personal defense at home.

The AMT Hardballer was the first .45 auto I owned. Maybe mine was worn out, you could shoot at the same place on a target and hit 2 feet apart. Always fed everything I put in it. My attorney wound up with it.

i own an AMT 1911 HARDBALLER at first i was a little wierded out about what i was reading about AMT products. but i have found that my 45 is very dependeble,, now mine has been throated and ramped , it also has a gawd awful 25 lb recole spring .. but it cycles my reloads ,, which are mostly hollowpoints.. i wouldnt trade it off i really like it .. all ive done to it was replace the grip with a hoague grip , and refinish the millit front site,, and i use chip mccormick 8 round clips ,, other than that ,, its just the way i got it ,,

i have been shooting 1911's for 20 + years.

i was a small arm repairman in the serive before

and after they switch over to the 9mm.

my AMT i picked up used 2 yrs ago ($200) not

bad i thought. other than a small ejection

problem that was fixed with a new guide spring(18#),

full length guide rod and a extended ejector.

i believe it was less than $50.

1200 rds later not one jam reloads or store bought

ammo. very acurate even at distances beyoud 35-40

yards. not bad for for $250

I,m wondering if this AMT is made by Arms Cor? I have a High Standard 1911 cal. 45 mfg. by Arms Cor in the Philipines, at first I was leary about it but bought it new for 350 bucks, because it looks like the original GI 45. Walnut checkered grips. I've had it over a year, shot 1300 rounds with it and NO problems. Put everything through it but my car keys.

AMT ARCADIA MACHINE AND TOOL OUT OF COVINA CALIFORNIA was a maker of several unique pistols and rifles until thier demise from law suite stemming from strum ruger for copying a few of thier designs they were among the first stainless pistols made , they chambered some in calibers not common to autos such as the 30 carbine , the 50 ae and correct me if i'm wrong the 45 long colt they were one of the fewmanufactures that sold a sucessful 22mag in auto the ownership has changed hands a few times i lost track of who has it now they were based out of sturges for a while ,, i own the hardballer and carry it often i've written on it before as my auto mag 2 22 magnum i personally believe the AMT brand has been overlooked and not given the praise they deserve
