Most H&K models can readily be had for well under $1000, e.g., USP under $730 NIB and the P2000SK for under $815 NIB.

I agree about the prices. I got my NIB P2000 SK .40 with the LEM action and conventional three-dot sights, as opposed to tritium night sights, for under $700. Instead of the upgraded factory sights, I chose to spend the same amount of money on a compact Laserlite rail mounted laser, which I love in low-light situations. My USP .40 C does have the tritium sights but was purchased through the one time only offer for airline pilots for $495.

When you bought the gun makes a differance on the price also, "when" the gun store gets HK.45 they sell over the wknd. I was in there two days ago, no .45, price tag laying in case $989.00 after tax and misc. DOJ fees $1,106 P2000 and USP 9mm $898.00 after tax and misc. DOJ fees $1,007 I bought my HK.45 six years ago and paid $750.00 on sale, hard to believe your getting them for way under $1,000 today. Unless you live in BFE and its hard to sell guns because population is low maybe. This gun store I go to guy behind the counter said each employee sells 4-5 guns a day.

I guess it does depend on where you live, you can get H&K's in my area from $800 and they are in strong supply. I am finding out CA is unique, we don't have all those DOJ fees and restrictions. You can also find great deals online and have them shipped to dealers in my area, I'm not sure if that is a CA problem too?? I just bought a new FNP .45 and both the stores I visited had a full selection, 10-12 H&K's out in displays and one said he had more models in boxes in the back. MD is not as popular a gun state as CA

Mine were all bought in Indiana, in my home town. HK's in general were not often on display so I had to order and pre-pay for my USP and P2000 SK. I also had to visit a number of shops with large selections to examine the P2000 SK .40 before I ordered it from my regular dealer. I bought the USP .40 C first but since I had experience with it, I was not concerned about pre-paying or buying sight unseen.

I test fired an HK .45 compact yesterday. I loved the way it handled ... smooth and accurate !!! I so far have only a Taurus 917ss 9mm to which to compare, and I expected a .45 to overwhelm me. But I shot the HK .45 with all center hits at 7 meters. Can anyone offer me a comparison of the HK .45 compact with the HK USP .45 compact? $1080 versus $880 does not seem like a necessary expense (the different rail and a changeable backstrap are unimportant to me).

I don't have a direct comparison and all of my HK's are .40's but to compare my USP .40 Compact and my P2000 SK .40, I actually like shooting the SK better. I am at least as good, if not better with it. Plus, for CCW, it has a 9rnd magazine but will accept the 12rnd magazines from the USP and full-size P2000.



I have been told that the P2000 (and its SK variant) are a newer design and have a more advanced recoil system. Plus, the reliability and quality is just as good. Having owned and experienced the USP C first (which I love), I have to admit that I prefer the P2000. When shopping, I found comparing HK models for me was like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Bentley. They are all fantastic.
