My P22 seems to shoot Federal ammo better with no ejection problems in comparison to Winchester and Remington ammo. Trying CCI next. Lost front sight and found a good source for Walther parts at carwalther.com.



Have been through about 150 rounds of CCI sent last post. Not a single FTE or FTF since using CCI.

Nice to see everyone enjoying their Walthers. Mine gets an FF only with remingtons. I'm told it is because of a lubricant they put on them at the factory building up. Don't know if that's true or not.

Shoots sweet and is easy to take down for cleaning.

This is a great starter gun for anyone, but especially a woman. Easy to handle & so much fun to shoot! I've found that CCI brand 36 grain plated ammo works best in mine. I've tried others including CCI stingers, Federal & Blazer ammo, all of which have FTF's and FTE's from time to time. I've also tried unplated ammo which coated my barrel with tiny fragments and made it very dfficult to clean. I do not recommend that ammo for this gun. I do have the newer model P22 made in 2011. It's acurate, easy to shoot, with hardly any recoil. The breakdown & assembly is very easy. A tip, when putting it back together, is to use a strong clip on the return spring & rod to keep it compressed in the slide while re-installing it on the gun. Otherwise, its almost impossible for me. This is a great gun overall. I'm very happy & pleased with it's performance!

Good advice Renata re ammo choices. I've already discovered the hassle of the recoil spring with mine. :-)

Still it's a fun shoot. I have two Ruger 22/45's which I shoot regularly for target proficiency, but after shooting them I pull out the P22 for just plain fun

I also use mine for CC when in shorts and t-shirts. Light as a feather and thin. Colder weather I carry a Sig P220.

Beware of hyper-velocity ammo (re: Stingers) in P22's. I have an older model I picked up used. The previous owner told me Stingers shot the best in the gun. Had some feed issues with it but once I got into a cleaning routine, it fed about everything I put in it. I shot Stingers sparingly due to their expense, but I shot them. The gun (an AD series) had had many many rounds thru it. Out at the rifle range last month, I was shooting Remington Goldens out of it when the slide broke. A clean break from the slide stop to the ejector port, as well as a crack in the front of the slide where it fills out. It's a fun gun, just not very sturdy over the long run. I'm going around with Smith/Walther now on parts. The slide replacement is not free according to them.

I just looked at the P22 manual and under warranty it quotes the following.



Within the first year after the date of purchase, the Walther company will repair or replace your defective weapon free of charge provided the defect was not caused by your misuse or negligence. Please deliver the weapon to an authorized dealer, with a written description of the problem and proof of purchase.



If it's been over a year I wouldn't expect it to be free, especially since you got the P22 used. I'm very curious how they handle your situation. Keep us informed.

I bought one of these, brand new, several months ago and finally got around to shooting it a couple of weeks ago. I took 140 shots at 30 feet. 40 with winchester wildcat 40 gr hp that was given to me. 50 with mini mags 40gr rn,and 50 with federal american eagle 38gr hp. As advertised every where the wildcat is junk. Failure to feed and or eject over 50 percent of the time. I am sorry I loaded 4 clips of it. The mini mags went off with no problmes. The american ealge would not feed after the first round in each clip but was flawless thereafter. I do have aftermarket and factory clips but that did not seem to make a difference. And those 38gr american eagles were spot on target. 2 grains what a difference.

Let's be real the only ammo this pistol is happy with is the mini mag. The limp wristing talk is an excuse to get a job interview with Walther. You get what you pay for here...a cheaply made and unreliable plinking pistol.
