What do you think of a Glock?

General discussion and chatter about firearms and weapons only.

I personally had a poor experience with a glock. I like the size and recoil, but had a problem with the range Glock 19 I used. I went with a CZ as my first, worth looking into at least. I personally think comfort is key, and while grips and the like can be changed, weight, size, and recoil will be your constants for the most part. just my two cents

Think you already answered your question about this, but in the home defense thread I have a post about my experience with the Glock 19.

Thank you everyone, that is just the type of feedback I needed to recognize.

There are pros and cons to everything and I think it is sometimes blind fully ignorant to go into anything without realizing or knowing both sides. I have some more research to do of course, but at least I will be able to test a Glock and acknowledge what some of the comments were and make an educated decision then.

In head to head tests more female LEO's selected the G19 as their first choice.

My first handgun was a Glock 19. Hard to beat it for simplicity, durability and reliability. Easiest guns in the world to break down and maintain.

The Glock is probably the first and only "well received" hand gun that has truly created feelings of "love it" or "hate it" in the gun loving crowd. I fall into the latter camp. I don't think anyone will argue that they are not reliable or durable, but they are butt ugly and dangerous out of the holster as pointed out.

A dangerous firearm in the trained hands of an officer of the law is one thing, but considering the potential for havoc in the hands of an occasional shooter or frightened homeowner makes me realize why there is still room for the tried and true DA revolver.

Of the 7 handguns that I own, 2 of them are Glocks (21sf & 27). I shoot these 2 guns better than any of the other guns in my limited collection. I Conceal Carry the Glock27 most of the time because it is small enough to hide in a holster on my waist. Plus it is 100% reliable. You can't go wrong with a Glock. Their customer service is very good also.

Glocks: Ugly as a brick. Reliable, simple and affordable.

The reason so many LEOs carry them is becuase their departments can't afford Sigs, H&Ks or Kimbers. Some people love'em some people hate'em but nobody will argue that they are not among the best self defense handguns made.
