.22 conversion kit or .22 pistol

Postby moon1978 » Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:22 am

Hi,

I am getting a Glock 17 9mm. I also want a .22 revolver. I have the choice of getting a 22LR conversion kit for my Glock 17 or just buying a non-Glock .22 pistol. The advantage of the conversion kit is that I will be using my Glock 17. But, are the conversion kits that reliable? Any suggestions as to which road I should take?

Thank you.

Thanks Will Carry for your response. What did you mean by ".22 pistols are like potato chips"? Can you suggest a good .22 pistol? Have a good one...

I agree with Will. I'd go with a Ruger MKIII with 5.5 inch barrel or a Browning Buckmark. The practice will carry over to your other sidearms. They both use cheap ammo with minimal FTFs & FTEs.

Most others are the 'luck-of-the-draw'.

I now have a Walther P-22, but it only accepts the expensive, high velocity ammo and only came with one mag.

I'd sure like to hear about any .22lr pistols that are reliable on cheap ammo.

Hey, goanra.....Colt Woodsman. Reliable on virtually any ammo, accurate....so on and so on...In my opinion, if Colt were to tool-up with production of their Woodsmans again, they could rake in the dough (and an excellent fun gun could be available).

robalan....Couldn't help but notice your spelling of "gental" LMAO!!
