Want a New Gun

Hey Guys/Gals,

I am looking to purchase a new Pistol to carry. I haven't even looked at anything in well over a Yr. now, but I have lost a lot of weight, and my G-19 is really bothering me wearing it on my Back. They claim it's Compact, but really???

I am looking for another SMALL 9mm, but would like something with the same or very close reliability as a Glock.

I want a Hammer this time as welll. I also have a 1911, but that's the same story when it comes to comfort. Going through the Brands I see positive and Negative comments on just about everything but Glock.

**Any suggestions on what I should concentrate on?? So far the Beretta PX4 seems to be best??

Thanks!

Just a couple more questions if I may?? There are 2 Calabre's that I have never Fired in a Pistol, the 40 and the 10mm. I hurt my Back a couple of Yrs ago, and with my 9mm, and especially my 1911, after about 100 Rounds at the Range my Back is hurting. Now, is there much of a difference in the kick of a 40 vs a 9mm?? Again, I am looking to downsize my Carry Pistol, so I guess I need to figure that into things as well. Also, is there much of a difference between a 9mm and a 40 as far as stopping power?? It just seems the actual Bullet isn't much larger so I figured I'd ask someone who uses a 40.

Thank's!

Gloc9mm:

The Clock 19 is a great concealed carry gun. I think what you need is a new holster not a new gun. Try Comp-Tac. they make great inside the waiste band holsters that are half leather and half kaydex. Very fast and concealable, but very conformable.

Also, stay with the 9mm. You do not need anything more for self defense with todays ammo and some decent shooting skills.

I have an XDm in 40 caliber. I don't notice the recoil much because it's a full size pistol and has a little weight to it. I hardly ever shoot it since 40 ammo is more expensive than 9mm. I have a Glock 19 and trust it with my life but I recon a 40 would be more betta! I like the 9mm because I can get off a faster 2nd & 3rd shot with it than my 45acp.

I have a bad back too and when it is acting up, shooting can hurt afetr a few rounds. I never thought about it being the particular gun I was shooting but rather the muscles I was using.

I am mainly looking for a Compact/Sub-Compact Pistol, so I was reading here about the PX-4 Sub-Comp. But now that you mentioned the Handle is large, that's my main problem. So I guess I really should go and look at a Gun Store. The Handle is my main problem, as that's what sticks in my Back. I have 3 Holsters for my G-19, but am using a cheap Uncle Mikes cause it has less bulk and doesn't bother me as much as leather. I guess I will look at the Holster that was recommended here before buying any new Gun. The last Gun that I looked at was an 8 shot Poly Walther 9mm that is actually perfect size wise, the only problem was it was a Walther!

If Smith can't just copy an Interarms PPK, I am not very secure with any newer designs they may make. I am just spoiled with the reliability of both my G-19 as well as the 1911. I have put thousands of Rounds thru each, and only the 1911 had 1 FTE. Otherwise both are perfect.

Now I start all over! LOL

Thank's!

the 40. make approx 100# of energy more than the 9mm so you figger in a small compact gun

your going to compound the problem for your self...the 10mm (a streched 40 cal) is a hammer,,,for your wants forget it....it has the same energy as a .357 and a heavier bullit....recoil....

I purchased the PX-4 Sub Compact, but had problems right out of the box. I guess I can't blame the Gun, but all I was getting was FTE's. I am not a big guy, (130lbs)and when the 300lb Instructor came in to test it he had no problems. He told me with that Pistol you cannot let it bounce/Recoil in any way, but I just could not stop it from doing so. He was also trying to get me to hold it in a different way than I have ever held any Weapon before, but the other 2 I have are full size Handles, the G-19 and 1911. I was a bit surprised cause after putting thousands of Rounds thru each, I have only had 1 FTE in the 1911 in all these Yrs! They took it back and I purchased a Ruger 357/38 which fills the need I wanted.

I just wanted something smaller to Carry, and after thinking about it I didn't want a Gun that if Godforbid I ever had to use it, I also had to think about holding it differently and worrying about it Jamming.

Thank's!
