I am looking to add a reasonably priced single action to my collection. I do Civil War reeancting and have fired blank rounds in the replica Colt and Remingtons in .44. So o course, I want a single action I can fire with modern ammo for fun. Has anyone tried the Cimmaron line, or have a suggestion? I prefer the "cowboy" guns so it doesnt need to be CW era.

I take it you're looking for centerfire yes? The Cimmaron's have a pretty good rep So does Uberti. Both companies make GREAT looking guns and although I haven't heard anything specifically bad about them, I think looks are their main focus. My boss said that alot of cowboy action shooters favor the Ruger Vaquero as their competition revolvers. I know they come in blued and stainless finishes but I don't think they do much with case colors. I'm pretty sure they offer them in most of the "cowboy" cartridges as well as .357.

If you wanted to spend alot, I would check U.S. Firearms. They've set up in the old Colt building in Hartford and are using Colt patterns and machines to recreate some real beauties in antiqued finishes. Check out www.usfirearms.com anyway just to get you drooling.
