Looking for advice

Im looking for a pistol to protect myself from a 65 265lb man. My brother says I need something that will stop him not just piss him off but I do not know alot about guns and Im a single parent and dont have alot to spend either. So does anyone have some good advice or reccomendations? Would appericate the help.

Are you saying you have someone particular in mind?

The pistol isnt as important as how you use it. a 22 rimfire can be just as effective as a 45acp in the right hands

Im sure this is true but when a 65 265lb man come at a 54 130lb woman you do not want to just make him mad!!

A bullets effectiveness is dependant upon what the shooter is capable of.

If your looking for a caliber recomendation, I recommend the biggest caliber you can comfortably shoot and be accurate with but nothing less than a 380.

9mm might suite you well and if you want a pistol recomendation I am really fond of the Beretta px4. I have a sister about your size and she is very comfortable that particular gun. But it really comes down to what your most comfortable with!

Ms. Loretta, always remember one thing..if you pull-it, make damn sure to use it. I suggest some serious time, at the firing-range..and find out which weapon you are most comfortable with...Later...Nohub

lorettad1963, Im 6-1 and tip the scales at 281. My daughter is exactly as you describe yourself. Any MAN who would attack a precious, petite female deserves a .45ACP bullet dead in the head!!! Thats thinking with my heart. Thinking with my brain, Id have to agree with my friend Beltbuckle. A 9mm would work fine and youd learn to handle it if its life or death...

Pretty much anything less than a .380 wouldnt do. Youve got some research to do. Check out the local shooting range and put a few pistols in your hand to see what fits, then go shoot them.Thats the only way to see what you can handle. good luck and get a Doberman Pinscher.

I dont mean to be rude but hold on a minute. You expect that in the next six days to find a 100% answer to what gun you should have?

If your expecting that Thursday you need to protect your life you might consider contacting the authorities, wich I assume you have and are still concerned.

The only real advise I can give you now is go to the range asap and rent everything you can and pick somthing that works for you, and buy it. try calibers like 380 9mm 357sig 40S&W and 45acp. all these bieng the most popular calibers.

Then get yourself some nice hollow point bullets and do what ever you need to. Of course following any laws that pertain.

Would like to help you in any way possible but your not giving us much to go on here.

first and foremost, if you anticipate that on thursday, youre gonna be in danger, then youve got 5 days to get the heck out of dodge! You mentioned that you have a brother...now is the time for him to be a true brother and protect you...but he cant protect you from yourself.

Im gonna assume that this problem didnt just start yesterday or two days ago...

Your best bet is to talk to the man behind the counter at the gun store, you can give him your story and he can make a decision for you based on hopefully his good judgment, it will be more beneficial to hold a conversation with him rather than typing back and forth with us do to the urgency of your problem. Stay alert and scan around yourself often, look for ways out before you get in, I wish you and your family the best.
