Whatever happened to BobVila? I hope we did'nt run him away. Must be very busy...
I think somone may have been pulling our chain. I read where Bob Vila served in the Peace Corp. when he was young. Does not seem to fit. It could be the real guy however. Later, nohub
Hey ContII, can you imagine how busy a guy with his responsibilities must be? He probably does more in a day than most people do in a week! The short time I've had to speak with him indicates that he's a pretty top shelf kind of guy. As busy as he is (assuming of course he is our Bob Vila) I don't imagine he has a lot of extra time to shoot the shit with friends, have a cold one with his buddies, and make it to the range just to have some fun busting a few caps. That's why I hope he continues to keep in touch with us, even if it's only ocassionally. If he needs someone to bullshit with, no strings attached I think this is a great place to start. I've really enjoyed the folks I've met through this forum. It's the best one I belong to. I watch members total posts , it tells you the interest they have, most of the time anyway. Those that just don't have the time to always get into each discussion will always be welcome. The members with the high totals are usually easy to contact and are always willing to share any information they have or a place to find it. I'd like to just tell everyone thanks for making this an outstanding forum! As my 16 year old daughter says as she walks out the door, "Peace Out Dog"! Her way of saying goodbye, see you later!
PS: Hey NoHub, could you please elaborate? Why does belonging to the Peace Corps make him guilty of pulling our chains? I think our country would be a lot stronger if we had more people getting involved in humanitarian organizations and groups that support the welfare of American citizens in this country legally. Later!
Yeah Tig, I can imagine what a person in his position has to go through to be as successful as he is. At the same time, a person has to make time for himself, away from the job or whatever. He probably has other interests and this may be one of many. I was just hoping that we did'nt turn him off.
I think he must recognize that we're an extremely intelligent group! I'm sure he's just a very busy individual that wishes he had more time for fun. If I wanted to keep people from doubting my identity and making an issue of it in the first place I'd simply use a screen name like most of us already do. Mr. Vila has to realize that the simple use of his name is going to generate a lot of interest. I hope everyone will afford him the same respect whether he uses his real name or an alias. I think that's what makes this forum better than the rest, nice people!
Excellent site. Just joined today and browsing around when I saw this topic on the NRA. Up here in Canada we don't have the NRA to speak up for us law abiding gun owners. Our Government would like to disarm every one of us so that the only guns on our streets will be that of Criminals. In the past our Liberal Government at the time funded gun lobbyists to promote gun control. It is against the law for us to have guns in our home for the sole purpose of Self Defense.
Wish we had an NRA chapter up here that would defend our rights..
Hey Commando! Welcome to the site. I use Canada, UK and Australia in discussions about the true purpose of the anti gun liberals and their promises of minor changes in existing laws. We've got HCI, George Soros and his millions of dollars, along with hundreds of other anti gun groups trying to preach the same line of bullshit to the American citizens. We are fortunate to have the NRA, GOA and all the local and state groups that support our second amendment rights. Their support also helps prove that the crap that spews from the anti gunners mouth's is loaded with lies and rhetoric. We need all the support we can get for our Pro Gun Lobby and the only way to get it is to promote it, support it and get involved as much as possible. It helps having people like yourself explain to us how your government pulled it off and tell us the lies they used to convince your country that it was the right thing to do. Your knowledge is very valuable and if sharing it convinces one person that the anti gun lobby is full of shit then you've done a great thing! Thanks for getting involved and welcome again to the forum!
Most of the guns that are used in crimes up here are unregistered and are in the hands of criminals who do not have a valid license to have them.
All of our firearms whether they are hunting shotguns, rifles or target handguns, have to be registered with the Government.
We cannot have a semi auto rifle that has a magazine capacity of over 5 rounds and 10 rounds for pistols.
Every year our Government comes out with new laws and regulations which have resulted in gun clubs shutting down because they can't afford to make the changes. Law abiding gun owners just say enough is enough and just sell their guns because of all the BS.
It is illegal in Canada to have a gun for the sole purpose of self defense in your home.
Gun ownership in South Africa has become just as bad if not worse than Canada. They imported one of our Canadian homegrown gun control nuts (Wendy Cukier) over there to give advice on gun control. As a result it is a nightmare to legally obtain a gun in SA, that is if you are a law abiding citizens.
Our Government funded Gun control Lobby groups like Wendy Cukier, to promote gun control or gun consfication. Same thing in my mind.
As the old saying goes, Outlaw guns and only outlaws will have guns.
I really have no idea what makes these Liberals tick or their lack of logic when it comes to gun control.
Our Government has made criminals out of law abiding citizens who found themselves in a position when they failed to register their long guns. You know, the real criminal types, like farmers, trappers and people who live in the country.
My advice to any American who owns guns and wants to keep them is to become a member of the NRA who protect your 2nd Ammendment.
Did I say I wished we had the NRA up here.
Welcome Commando!! Power 2 The People- for our 2nd Amendment Right 2 Bear Arms!! Those Liberials, most always cause me to lose my lunch!! Later and Welcome, Nohub
This is an article published by Dillon Precision, (The Blue Press). It was originally written around 2000 to try and rattle the senses of the 2004 Presidential voters. I think it still applies and was re published this month in the Dillion Precision. Check it out. Since we all seem to be established or new members of the NRA I think it will make you glad you are and hopefully rag on fellow gun owners that are the apathetic voters and lazy gun owners that think they don't need to get involved. It's enough to start your blood boiling and we need more of it. People, we're in the middle of the struggle to keep our 2nd Amendment rights alive. It's up to us to do the right thing. We have to maintain the vote and keep the support for the NRA going. We HAVE to see this through! Here's the link to the article:
Yes, Life Member.....Someone has to speak for us, because the people we put in to office don't.
AMEN !! You nailed that one on the head!
NRA YES. Iam a member and it's the main spearhead in keeping the 2nd ammendment upheld. They also have a cool website and great nonbiased gun reviews in their American Rifleman magazine. The armed citizen is also something unfortunately you cant read in the papers covering instances where firearms have saved lives contrary to the liberal media reporting nothing in the way of 2nd ammendment support.
NRA-yes, GOA-yes, and DAMN PROUD to stand on the line with them.... Where ever that may lead.
Why just be difficult, when with just a little bit of effort you can be toally IMPOSSIBLE? Join up and help the rest of us be impossible!!!!!!!!!!
Updated count: Winners: 13 Looooosers: 00
NRA- yes. For several years. Haven't gotten around to joining GOA.
NRA and Gun Owners of California..........Forever
Yes 15 / No 0
I'll get some information together and provide the website address for the Gun Owners of America. It's another top notch Second Amendment warrior that needs and deserves everyone's support. If anyone has the time I would appreciate your comments on the GOA. Knowing a little personal information about them would be a real plus for the members. Thanks in advance!
NRA YES! But I had a fight the other day with someone in the NRA.. He yelled at me cause I called a gun a weapon.. he was like a gun isn't a weapon its a firearm.. WItch I agree but its also a weapon.. THey make guns to kill they make ammo to kill something better then other ammo.. I couldn't agree with him and Im good not agreeing everyone might feel diffrent then I do that and I respect that but this guy hated me so much he refused to sell me my ammo.. You would be foolish to think guns are made to just put holes in paper enimies!! I know this is one guy in the NRA out of a million but that just pissed me off
He wasn't speaking on behalf of the NRA. That I'm sure of. Not selling you ammo because of making a statement like that is outrageous! I'd let everyone know about it, that's for damn sure. Worst thing you can do is starve his bank account. That was absurd! Take a dictionary, it will support your statement.
I would sure have to agree with Tig! He is not speaking for the NRA, nor anyone else with any command of the english language. Tigs also right I believe, starve him financially. Do it long enough and HE'LL be calling it a weapon just to get your money!
That was incredibly stupid. What a lame excuse for not wanting to sell you ammo, why didn't he just tell you the truth? You're just from NJ, who needs more reason than that? lol EVERYBODY knows that you can't sell ammo for "weapons" to y'all northerners, I mean now look what happened last time right? By the way jdeangelis99, in case you don't know me, I am ABSOLUTELY just joking, my friend! Heck I'm originally from Wyoming, you ought to hear what they say about us, but PLEASE no sheep jokes, ok? hahahabaabaabaabaa. Oops, did that come outta me?!?
