New Law for Hunting

Postby GOANRA » Sat Mar 23, 2013 4:44 pm

Just got an Email from the NRA-ILA yesterday. My state passed a new law for Deer Hunting.
Last year State passed a law making it legal to Concealed Carry your SD sidearm, while Hunting.
This year is hunters may use any 'centerfire caliber' for deer and may also use a Crossbow.

The idea is to get 'younger hunters' involved & interested in hunting at earlier ages to preserve the sport. Also, more deer, antelope and elk need to be harvested per year.

It would be tempting to go deer hunting with an AR and a 30 round Mag (of JHP or good ballistic tip HP), but I think I will continue to use my .300 Win Mag, as I really hate tracking my game 'after' shooting it.

I was at Wally's last night & asked the gun guy if they were going to start carrying 'Crossbows' due to the new law. He said he didn't think so, but they do sell bolts.

A silent crossbow could be a hoot, depending on their range and accuracy... I may have to look into them.

The State says deer hunters tend to hunt until an older age if allowed to use a crossbow.
That is interesting, but doesn't make a lick of sense to me.
