The U.S. Senate must vote NO on Judge Sonia Sotomayor!

In defending her decision that the states could enact any form of gun control they wished -- with absolutely no regard to the Second Amendment -- Judge Sonya Sotomayor has developed a new love for Nineteenth Century court opinions.

Demonstrating that she was programmed in her responses, Sotomayor defended one of her earlier legal opinions by citing "footnote 23" of Justice Antonin Scalia's opinion in the DC v. Heller case ast year.

But, when pressed by questioner Orrin Hatch yesterday, Sotomayor could not recite the contents of that footnote or the holdings of the cases which it cited. As it turns out, the footnote on which Sotomayor claims to rely, cited -- without approval -- two Nineteenth Century cases which rejected the notion that the Second Amendment was 'incorporated' to apply to the states.

But those were also the days when the Supreme Court held that the rights protected in the First Amendment did not apply to the states. Apparently, Sotomayor wants to base her anti-gun philosophy on antiquated decisions from an era when the U.S. Supreme Court was spitting out racist decisions.

Her answers got even worse today when Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma asked her, point blank, "Is there a constitutional right to self-defense?" Sotomayor said that was an "abstract question" and that she couldn't think of a Supreme Court case that addressed that issue.

Coburn said he didn't want a legal treatise on what Supreme Court holdings have said, rather, he wanted her own personal opinion. Sotomayor would not answer the question, although when pressed, she equated self-defense with vigilantism!

Folks, do you see how important it is to stop this nomination? GOA mailed its members postcards opposing Sotomayor not too long ago. Please make sure you have mailed those in. We need a multi-pronged offensive right now where our Senators are receiving snail mail, email and phone calls.

And, we need ALL PRO-GUN ORGANIZATIONS to take a stance AGAINST this nominee.

Organizational spokesmen can talk a good game and say they have serious "concerns" about Sotomayor. That's all well and good. But unless those organizations (big and small) rate each Senator's vote on Sotomayor -- when she's clearly anti-gun -- then those supposed "concerns" are just meaningless.

Senators have to hear from ALL the pro-gun organizations -- big and small -- that they are going to rate this vote during the 2010 election. Otherwise, those organizations are just Paper Tigers.

We can't let this anti-gun judge infiltrate U.S. Supreme Court! She is dangerous on so many levels -- but, especially, on Second Amendment rights.

GOA considers her nomination to be of the most important gun votes in the HISTORY of the US Senate. We can't think of any other nominee in recent history who has taken such a horrid stand on the basic right of self-defense.

She says that she will follow the precedent in the DC v. Heller (2008) case. But even if she does, that only means that she will vote to apply the Second Amendment in Washington, DC. She has already ruled this year in Maloney v. Cuomo that the amendment doesn't apply to where you live.

It's amazing to me that nobody gives a damn about what's happening to our gun rights! Isn't anyone concerned about this? It's very easy to determine the number of people clicking on these posts and that number is non existent on most of these posts. If you don't get involved and voice your opinions at this level, I can just about be certain that you're not contacting your elected officials either. If you don't get involved and try to stop this socialist takeover of our government, don't piss and moan when they take away your rights and your guns. Get involved people and get involved now. The enemy is attacking, it's time to fight back! Fighting back after they've stomped your Rights into the ground doesn't serve any good purpose. The idea is to fight before they take away what you cherish, your Constitutional rights. If you don't help, don't whine afterwards...

If you're going to continue to support this absolutely idiotic movement to take over America, then you deserve to be one of the first people in line to lose their Constitutional rights. If you haven't paid attention the "annointed one" (lower case intentional) has and is losing his approval percentage daily! Also did you see that today, the fool and his supporters have driven unemployment to over 10% in at least 15 states? What say you about Sotomayor? She is as vehemently anti Second Amendment as Obama! Do you support a Supreme Court nomination that will advance the attack on our gun rights? Obviously you do. You can't have it both ways and that's what you damn liberals always think, you expect to have things your way and piss on everyone else. This freaking health bill is another example of your stupidity. People don't want it, period. You can't tell Americans that they have no choice in their medical care. Don't even begin to tell me that you'll have choice of medical care if these assholes shove their crap down our collective throats. I could and will go on forever but I'll close this slap to your face with a question. There was a vote today regarding this dumb ass health bill and it was brought before the Democrats that the way the current bill is written provides free medical benefits to ILLEGAL Immigrants!! When asked to vote that down the Dumbocrats refused to vote against it!!!!!!!!!!! WTF is wrong with your party? What are you guys smoking? Leave my America alone.

As far as chickens go, maybe if you liberals would stop sitting around choking yours, something might get accomplished. We have just begun to fight...

If your blaming Obama for unemployment and this economic disaster after 6 months in office when the recession started a year ago, you lose credibility.

Neither Sotomayor or anyone else is taking away our guns. Settle down. 8 years of clinton and I still got all my guns, and I'm sure you were crying wolf in the 90's about him taking them too...

Relax, go bark off a few rounds in the morning like I'm gonna do, and spend some time with your family and stop worrying so damn much.

Don't even begin to assume you know what I'm thinking and how I'm coming to my conclusions. I've belonged to conservative groups including the RNC for years and joined them just after abandoning the Democratic Party a long time ago. So as far as your thought that I'm mining conservative websites, you're only partially right. I contribute time, money and resources working toward a conservative solution to the mess you liberals are burying us in. Dem's were the party for the people until it started to go downhill after that idiot Carter was elected. You're right about us saving our gun rights when Clinton took over Washington. He would've done a hell of a lot more damage had the Republicans not had majority. Don't you think Clinton rode on the coat tails of Reagan? Reaganomics paved the way for Clinton's economic success. Couldn't have done it without conservative responsibility. Now we're witnessing total liberal disregard for the American taxpayers.

With the Dumbo's in the WH and holding majority in Congress, things are far more slanted in your liberal direction. You don't understand the reprecussions of your liberal ways, but if we can't stop you and yours before you ruin the country, you will.

The entire US political environment is way out of control. The poll numbers are indicative of the growing unease of not only Americans, but the global community as well. We've got a President that has taken over several of our largest American corporations, including our banking and investment institutions. Don't forget our largest automotive manufacturing firms! Now those fools want to take our health care providers and throw them into a collective pit and expect them to succeed after taking away their ability to provide competitive services in a free market. We're already suffering because our health care providers are required to provide free medical care to illegal immigrants! Lets not forget to mention our retired and disabled citizens that depend on individual retirement policies, including Medicare and Medicaid. We shouldn't be required to sit in a hospital emergency room waiting for urgent care behind people that are illegal immigrants and have no intention of paying one red cent for their care! The only reason they take advantage of our health care system is, one, because it's flawed and because their own country refuses to provide it for them! Our system provides them with better benefits than their own government will ever consider to provide! If that isn't enough to simply PISS you off, the Dumbocrats now have submitted legislation to provide Medicare benefits to all of these illegal immigrants that haven't contributed a single friggin penny to the program!! WTF is with that?? If these idiots in Washington had to depend on Medicare for their own retirement, you could bet your ass that things would be radically different!

It's time to put our foot down and let these fools know that we're not going to lay down and let the liberals take away our country. One letter, one phone call, one email, whatever you can do, let your elected officials know that they work for us. If they don't listen to you, let them know next time the election comes around, you won't forget them like they've forgotten you! Put their useless asses on the unemployment line, just like the 10%+ Americans they have put there.
