Kel-Tec P-11 Reviews

I bought my P-11 when they first came out, so I have had it several years. NEVER had a problem with it, eats everything I feed it, and carry it daily. I bought a Glock -30, and then a Glock 36 to carry instead of the 9mm P-11, however I just can't carry the Glocks as comfortable as the little Kel -Tec, so I am still carring a 9mm. My only complaint is the same as everyone else long/heavy trigger pull. But I have gotten used to it now.

Recently made three upgrades to my P-11. Added grip extention to one mag, steel spring guide and clip to side of weapon. All three improvements for a total of about $30. Real improvement. Kel-Tec instructions were easy to follow and parts shipped accurately and fast.

Nice lightweight gun, but such a hard trigger made me get a Glock.

Has anyone tried the new Skyy 9MM? It is similar to the Kel Tec P11 but with a safety and sells for $320.

I bought a KelTec P11 from the original owner in Exc good that has not been shot much. It is jamming on the second shot or so once every second or third magazine with two different brands of ammo. Is this a common problem or would a good cleaning correct this?

I really like the P11 and plan to keep it, is there any upgrades that would be of benefit that could be done by KelTec or a Gun Shop?

You may want to try a different magazine. If that does not fix the problem you should take it to a gunsmith. A little polishing should do the trick.

Got rid of my Glock-27 for off-duty because it was just too damned big. It was impossible to conceal in Florida weather and therefore spent six months protecting my underwear drawer. I sold it to another guy I work with and bought a Kahr P40 covert.

The Kahr was so bad I took it back after one day and surprisingly got a full refund. The slide failed to go completely forward three or four times per magazine, it had the recoil of a 3.5" 12 gauge and I seriously thought it was going to explode in my hand. Plus a 5+1 capacity is pretty pathetic (was told it was 6+1).

Now I've bought a Kel-tec P11 on the advise of a couple of officers who carry the P3AT (couldn't bring myself to step down to a .380). I got the Chrome slide-Black grip model and ordered two 12rd mags, a steel guide rod and a belt clip from Kel-tec. I intend to carry 115 grain Quik-shok hollow points which break into three pieces on impact. Can't pick it up until Monday because in Florida even cops are subject to the three day wait (what bulls*t). I can't wait to get it out to the range.

As for the long trigger, I used to carry a Beretta M92D with a 9.5lb DAO trigger (issued weapon) and before that a .357. Anyone who has been a double-action revolver shooter should have no problem with a 9lb trigger. It may even force you to aim and use proper breath control.

I had the trigger bar break at the 785th round through my P-11. Replaced the trigger bar and had all kinds of problems with it feeding reliably. I now have a S&W 642 instead. In my mind the P-11 is a good concept. I'm just not sure I beleive in a reliable compact polymer pistol.

I have had this pistol since 2004. I have had no problems with it at this time. I would recomend this pistol to anyone who wants a reliable, no frills and inexspensive firearm. It may kick a bit more than some would care for but if you have to use it in a life or death situtation you will not be worried about the kick.
