Hi-Point 40/45 Reviews

just purchase a month ago hi piont jhp 40sw took 60 rds and a file to get sites set, had to file some from side of site. first 5 rounds grouped hand sized at 50 yards about 28inches to the left of the target

after sites set on standard 50 yard pistol target at 50yards shooting remaining 40 rds most went into the black.

this is my first hi point, what got me to purchase it was its mass. wanted a home protection weapon, great for answering the door if you can't shot him you could nock his head off.

using the cheapest ammo i could get 180 grain independance.

was very impressed with accuracy and no hangups/missfires

from a brand new weapon impressed.

after all siad and done it groups at 50 yards on average 6" with a couple of flyers out to 10".

want to place a lazer on it and don't like the on hi point sells

the mounting on the frame for lazer is non standard which a little moto tooling to the sides can fix but will have to check with high point on warranty first before mods/

Hey Turretman

Glad to hear that you like your new 40. I have always been impressed with Hi-Point. My C-9 resides near the front door as well.

In reading your insert, I was wondering if you meant that you sighted in at 50 feet and not 50 yards.(150 feet) and then at 60 feet and not 60 yards (180 feet) In a home situation, 21 to 30 feet is about the maximum amount of space needed to firre a weapon. ( Using the 21 foot reaction time/space model)

If you can get those groups in 50 to 60 yards, you won't need the Hi-Point Carbine.

I just bought my Hi Point .40 cal new and haven't had a chance to fire it yet. I have read all the reviews this site has on this firearm and I am much more comfortable with my purchase now. I figure for $150.00 I can't go wrong. I'm not expecting an $800 performance from a $150 gun. I have a Ruger SP101 and could not be happier with any sidearm. It will always be my go-to weapon and my carry arm. But I feel pretty comfortable about this latest purchase. I will be back with a review of my own when I take this ugly beast for a spin

sorry yes that was 50 foot pistol targets at 50 feet.

have tryied at 100 yards at 5 gallon bucket 5 hits out of 10. sighting above the bucket.

am now looking for small concealable 40 sw any ideas for a good one.

I would like to recommend the Taurus Millinium Pro series. I carry the PT 145 at all times. Great pistol IMHO

I will be taking my new Hi Point .40 cal. to the range day after tomorrow. Still unsure as to what ammo to feed it yet. Guess I'll start with Winchester. Any input as far as ammo goes will be much appreciated!

Just picked up 3 boxes of MagTech Guardian Gold .40 cal 155 gr. JHP to run through my Hi Point. These will be the first ammunition fired through a brand new weapon. Am also going to run Independence 155 gr. solid points through it as well. Pass on the results of it's test run tomorrow. Can't wait to put it through the paces! Taking my Ruger SP101 .357 mag. to play with too!!

i just returned from the range and my Hi Point .40 cal maiden voyage. I put 110 rounds through it and had 2 FTF's. I believe it to be from the magazine. All said, this handgun performed well past it's price range. The action was smooth and exact. The accuracy was PHENOMENAL!!!! I placed groupings very tight and dead center on many. The slide,being as heavy as it is, actually help bring the gun back on sight after recoil. I have nothing but praise for this firearm and I am very happy I bought it. It didn't seem to make any difference which ammo I put through it(both MagTech JHP and Independence FMJ. I am so pleased with Hi Point that I am purchasing a C9 9mm. Go buy one of these firearms. You won't regret it!

Just returned from my 2nd trip to the range with the Hi Point .40 cal. Ran another 100 rounds through it without fail or problems! This pistol is an extreme pleasure to shoot. Accurate and smooth. Got another Hi Point coming in the 9mm cal. I HIGHLY recommend buying one!

Yet another trip to the range and my Hi Point performed flawlessly! No longer feel the need to post comments defending this firearm. Just saying it has quickly become my weapon of choice. Can't wait for my 9mm !!
