colt 1911 vs taurus millenium pro 9mm

Hi guys im new to this so I dont know if I am posting this in the right place. I own an old colt .45 1911 from the 60's. I just had it professionally refinished and replaces alot of worn parts. A friend of mine wants to trade it for a new Taurus millenium pro 9mm, what do you think about this? Is it a good deal or should I stick with my old colt?

maybe you guys can help me date and price the colt(I think its a keeper as well). It has absolutely no inscriptions or security marks, ive looked everywhere. Except the barrel and slide say colt .45 7791193. And the frame has government model inscribed in the right side just below the slide above the grips. No serial numbers nothing

The Taurus is worth around $300. The Colt could be worth twice that or more. Old Colts are very popular and will go up in value over time. Do some more research on the old Colt before you decide.

Hi drivera84....I'm with these guys also! Keep the Colt! Yes, the Taurus is a nice shooter, but the Colt is a Colt!

You can get some good info relative to your 1911's history at Coltautos.com. Also, (for a fee) writing to Colt with it's serial number can get you it's birth date and origin of sale....cost a bit too much, but I guess that depends on the individual.

hi guys, I did some reserch on the colt, this is a mixmaster as it is called built with post wwII parts on a pre 1924 frame (its a 1911 not a1). It was rebuilt with non colt aftermarket parts after wwII. I switched all those to more recent original colt parts. The only marking on the frame is Government Model

Man dont even trade for the taurus, the older the better, they have real steel parts not MIM junk they put in everything nowdays my dad has a old military "mixmaster"aka rebuild 1911 it will feed anything and he can out shoot me with those military sights all day long.

Newer is not always better and old school 1911's are becomeing popular again

I have a Mil Pro and it is a nice gun but I am with everyone else here, If it were me I would never trade that Colt for just about anything.

Hi, I'm deciding to keep the colt! Never really wanted to trade it. I'm probabby going to buy the mil pro instead.
