Hey Whithood, if the 5.45 round is so good why did the Russians convert to the 9X39?

I personaly do not want to get shot with any of those rounds.

They haven't. The 9X39 is a specialty subsonic round used by their special forces. The 5.45 is still standard Russian issue.

you are saying that it was just their special forces when they invaded Georga? That is how we, the U.S. finally got to see all the different weapons that they have chambered in that calliber.

Pretty much. The original 5.45 round was devastatingly effective, but no so good against modern body armor. The 9X39 round has been used in a number of AKM type weapons but is unlikely to replace the 5.45. It's useful in suppressed weapons and will penetrate body armor. You'll see the weapon used by their police forces of which many are really paramilitary especially those tasked for house to house fighting where the carbine weapons that use the 9X39 round are useful.
