RECIPROCITY

Postby Gloc9mm » Sat Feb 12, 2011 2:08 pm

It seems like everywhere I look Online, the Reciprocity Laws are different. Is there any 1 reliable Site that states just where and how a Weapon is allowed or not, and how it is to be carried?

Sorry I have asked so many questions in various areas, but I just found this Site and have been pondering these questions, some for Yrs!

Thanks, Bob

I found this to be a helpful place to keep up with that. http://apps.carryconcealed.net/legal/reciprocity.php

Hope this helps.

Bob, no sign in necessary. Google carryconcealed.net. You can't miss it. You'll see the "state specific CCW legal info" right there at the top. Chip

I just got an offer from Frontsite in Nevada about their courses for a concealed carry training program. They claim to provide you with a course that provides a permit qualifying you for 31 state reciprocity. I just got my Florida permit and we now have the same program and it provides a permit that is recognized in 35 states. Not bad! It's also good for 7 years.

Thank's!

I just rec'd my CCW Permit Renewal, and they included an updated list of States that currently accept my CCW. 35 total. Funny you mention Nevada, they just took it off the list because they said that Nev. no longer issues CCW's??

Going back many Yrs. ago when I used to live in Fl, The CCW was about $200 if I remember correctly for only 3 Yrs! The last Renew I got back there was about $65 for 5 Yrs. I never heard of anything ever going down before in Gov't!! But I'm glad they have come around to the price/time range of most States that issue CCW's. Renews are the same here in Miss. price wise as well, but after last Winter, I'm thinking of going back to Fl! Glad to hear they now give 7 Yrs!

Gloc9mm:

I think that the only way to be sure is to make some phone calls, first to your State Police Post, then to the states your concerned with.

Here in Kentucky, the state police are charged with verifying and updating the reciprocity list every year. Check the state laws in your state (or make phone calls) and see who is responsible for maintaining and updating reciprocity list.

If I am going to travel to WVa to see my brother-in-law, or Alabama to see my nephew, I will plan my trip, see what states I'll be in, and then sit down and call each state's State Police Post and ask.

Sounds like a lot of work, huh? It's worth the time not to have to deal with the violation.

BTW, the troopers on the phone will always identify themselves, so jot down the names and keep them handy, just in case.
