What is the best all around handgun?

General discussion and chatter about firearms and weapons only.

The best all around handgun would be one that shoots every different caliber, shoots half inch groups at 25 yds, has no recoil, has a high capacity mag, looks good, never jams, fits in your pocket, and costs less than $500. Since that doesnt exist you have to decide what your needs are and try as many different model s that fit your needs to find whats best for you. If your needs are too varied, take the time to prioritize and shop used. As Im sure you know, as a long gun owner, shopping with a wish list can be a lot of fun.

Put aside ones needs and come up with a list of handguns that are rated the highest. Example; To me, a Ruger is a Cadillac. A Smith and Wesson is a Mercedes. A Kimber is a Bentley or a Rolls Royce. I realize Its all in th e eye of the beholder.

Hell! Some people think Hi Point is the best. I want to change the original question a little. What is the highest rated handgun around? Kimber, Les Baer, Sig Sauer, S&W...you name it...

Getting a list together of the highest rated handguns together is a good idea but I dont think you should put aside your needs. You can buy the best hammer in the world but it aint worth a damn if you're trying to drive screws.

Tru dat agonist, and I agree with the concept of different rounds for different purposes. Humor me.

I've dreamed of owning a Kimber 1911.45(Bentley) but they're so expensive. I saw a used one today after work for $600.00. That's the best I've seen, even a used one! This one is SS w/ checkered rosewood grips. Looks pretty new.

1). Kimber 2).Sig Sauer 3). Smith & Wesson 4).Ruger 5). Beretta.....as much as I love my Rugers, these other guns have been on my list of "to get" for a long time.

Taurus, Browning, Springfield Armory, Para Ordinance, Kahr, Glock and Walther round out my top picks.

I sold some stuff today and I just hit my mark for the pt1911.

As soon as the money clears in headed to the shop!

Have you fired a Sig 220? Doesn't feel right in my hand. I like some of their .380s. Reel sweet but a little heavy for a .380. GREAT girl or suit and tie guns. Very classy.

Nah, I prefer the full size USP to the USPc. The full size has the patented recoil reduction system and the compact doesn't. And the compact is just barely smaller than the full size. You dont gain as much as you lose by going down in size to the compcat HK. You do gain quite a bit by going down to a SubCompact Glock from a fullsize Glock. Now that's a noticeable difference in size!

Shoot lots and shoot straight :)
