Hey Lots, it sure looks like you've got your hands full getting this forum back on track! I'd sure like to help you out and the GD out with the moderation duties and again would like to put my name out there for consideration this year! I think we could do some positive things for the website and the membership, put in a good word for me and lets get things moving forward! Happy New Year to all of you GD members! Happy shooting to all of you!!

Hey Tig, You got my vote, but who would you moderate on this site?

It looks like the other site has been abandoned (spammed-up) and I can't even log in.
This site seems to have been abandoned, too.

Where did everybody go??

I will do my "Moderator" duties, and move/make this a new thread. I shall title it "Who should be a moderator?" While traffic/posting is extremely slow, having more than one moderator is a good idea. I have brought up the idea of adding Tig to the administration, but the answer I received was that one moderator is enough for now.

I would also say that GOANRA, you would probably make a good mod too. At least you have stood by the site and continue to participate. Also, your having a good bit of knowledge is a plus too. :D

I don't know what happened Go!?! I was contacted by the new(est) admin awhile back and had my small brain picked regarding some past issues and if I'd be willing to try getting the GD back on track. Of course I'm always willing to lend a hand and made myself available. They did contact Lotsip after that initial contact and appointed him to the moderator's position. I know he tried hard but there wasn't enough of the old interest to revive it I guess. I don't know what it is with this forum. It was one of the best available and was certainly a location that most of us could be tracked down in a matter of hours (if not minutes). I can't figure out why all of the offers to assist were ignored, especially when they were needed to get the old and new show back off the ground. Perhaps if there is still any interest from the latest administration we could make an effort to revive the old girl yet again! It's their call...

I would have really liked it if BeltBuckle would have come back as a moderator too. He did show up for a few posting and to just check in, but with the site being as dead as it is, who can blame anyone for not sticking around. I have made many suggestions to the administration to improve this site, but when I received a response, they told me they needed to see how the site did to determine "whether or not it was worth it".

For me, it has been months and many post/requests since I have heard back from them. Any of you tried to contact them and have any luck getting a response in the last month or two?

No I haven't heard anything for months. I was contacted by Justin originally and that was before the newest edition of the website made it's appearance. That's when some ideas were shared back and forth a few times but then nothing. Very much like the previous attempts. I was really thinking this administration would pull it off. They have to realize that nothing is going to happen as long as you wait to see what kind of interest is generated by doing almost nothing. There has to be an effort made to witness any results. It's pretty simple really... It's up to them to decide how far this goes.

I just checked and saw stats; "Most users ever online was 116 on Mon Nov 19, 2012".
This number seems like something we could work with towards ressurrecting this site.

Also, 20 users on the site at the moment, but no members.
I like the lack of labels, nobody wants to be a "Junior Member" and it serves no purpose.

It seems odd to be the only member on this site (or any other) at the moment.
This seems to be the result of "Wait and See" (waiting for what?)

I'd be willing to spend some time every day updating old posts, but the site owners are going to have to begin participating in increasing membership, getting this site into search engines and such.
It will take a lot of ADVERTIZING to get this thing going. I'd be happy to contact some of the old members/regulars, if this site can start showing some activity, we are still in touch.
Also, I could shift some traffic from other gun sites.

At present, this site has had 5 posts in the past TWO WEEKS. (3 were mine)
Our active members at present are: Lotsi, Tig, & Me.

Perhaps the current owners do not want to increase Forum membership and want the site to fail... like the others site did, do to lack of participation/interest.

The successful sites have an: 'AR15 Topic', a 'General Talk Topic', a '2nd Amend Topic', and a 'Political Topic'.
The NRA will allow a no cost NRA-ILA daily news RSS feed, a huge draw.

GOANRA,

I quoted your previous post to the administration, we will see if they get back to me with their thoughts on the matter, but at least it has pointedly been brought to their attention.

On another thought, maybe we should enjoy being the only ones here. I could start a tigwelder57,GOARNA, lotsip81 thread where the three of us can talk about whatever we want......what do you guys think?

It might be fun! I think that having a section like that is very valuable for admin and the moderators to share ideas. We used to have a private thread for that purpose when I previously moderated this forum. It's a valuable tool and can be used very productively.

I would like to see consideration made to appoint GOANRA to a moderators position or higher. He has shown me on any number of occasions his skill at handling the position. He has a strong law enforcement, firearm and personnel management background. (Sorry Go, I gave away some of your secrets!) He has managed other like positions and did it with great popularity and success. This forum would benefit greatly from his help and direction. He has always been a valued friend and if allowed to help out the GD staff and membership, I'm certain he'll develop and encourage many additional friendships with old and new members alike. The need for highly educated moderators should never be overlooked, particularly when they're volunteering their time and knowledge. If we want to get this website/forum singing again, we need to get back into the trenches and make it sing the way it used to and it did! This was one of the most popular forums available until it was allowed to go silent. I hope that isn't allowed to happen again. Thanks! :!: :!:

Tig, thanks for the great reference! However, I stand by my vote for Tig as a Moderator, he has been here a very long time and has been very 'active' as his post count reflects.

I'd be happy to give a few hours a day towars helping to revive this site as a 'Worker Bee".
Since I permanently wrecked my spine last July, I seem to have some free time.

I just spent two hours typing-out what I thought we could do to quickly increase membership, but when I hit the submit button, it was all lost. (this site needs an auto-save function to prevent that, like some other sites have).
