American Shooting Centers way out west has one open to the public out to 300 yards. They had/have a 500 or 600 meter range but its use is limited to by invitation only.

Here's a list of available ranges in the state. I'm told that many have long distance ranges available and many have invitation only ranges. In addition to the following ranges, here's a link to a list of many Texas ranges. A phone call or email may provide you with the range info you need. Good luck! http://www.texasgunrange.com/

Tig, American Shooting Centers will give him what he wants which is a 2 and 300 yard range and is closer to where he lives in Conroe. He's still looking at 45 minutes in the best of traffic. Bay Area Shooting Club is private with a 200 yard range but is way on the other end of Houston. Ditto for the Juliff Bayou Rifles which has the best distance ranges in the area. You've listed it as public, it's not, it's a private club which requires a membership. The area high power and long distance matches are held there. If he goes to American, he'll need to bring any rests, spotting scopes and sandbags with him. Also if memory serves me, there is no cover for the 2 and 300 yard ranges so it gets brutally hot very quickly.

I list them as the information becomes available to me. The more information provides more choices. I often gather my contacts via electronic means. I regret if any of the information is out of date. I'm trying to provide people with as much information as possible. Unfortunately many websites, ours included, aren't as prompt as they should be updating the changes they have made regarding their business. For that I'm sorry. But I am providing options for them to investigate on their own. But thanks for pointing that out!

You got it. Thunder Gun Range is on 242 just south of Conroe. They have a 2 and 3 hundred yard range. I never knew that one was there.

Went to thunder the other day. horrible service, angry staff. acted like I was bothering them. sad too cause I live on 242. I'm looking for past 300 meters though. actually like the staff at gun emporiuim. range is nice also but limited to 200 yards. had a doe and two fawns watching me shoot the other day. funny.

thanks for the info all.

No worries. The range was nice but the staff were the problem. I may check out American shooting centers as Whitehood mentioned. A guy I met shoots with the LEO sniper's and Military that go there. Wanted to have me meet them after doing some range time with him last week. Sounds like American was where he was talking about. I guess they shut the range down occationally for them to shoot and train at greater distances. Out near Huntsville area...
