This S&W 327 is Gorgeous. But at these prices buy an Mac 11 or semiauto rifle like an AK-47.$$$.Hey this is a 327 S&W.

And it happens to be a 38+P & 357 Mag.

For the people commenting about the 629 or PD S&W model there are a 44 Magnum caliber. Were talking 765-1200 pounds of recoil.O.K Dirty Harry??

It's best used for a lever action Winchester or a Marlin 1895

44 mag Caliber. By theway 44 mag ammo is expensive and hard to find at your local gun shop. I my self use a Remington 770 308.Caliber for hunting. Happy Fathers Day fellows.

Got my 6 1/2" 629 new in box for under 700 dollars. Don't you guys know how to shop? Anyway, s&w's actions are simply wonderful, real light trigger pull. My only dislikes are the hogue grips that come with the pistol, too narrow imo.

I test fired one at the local range a629PD with 44 200GR SPC loads and it was nice.Well balance accurate, but i think the cobolas wood grips limit its firing potential. With some uncle mike or even S&W rubber grips the recoil would not be felt at all. Smooth trigger action and front sight is on target.

I bought one new in the middle 80's, sold it in the middle 90's and have regretted it ever since. I paid, I think, $365 new for it then. Stainless, 6.5 inch barrel, factory wood grips. The grips were plenty wide to disperse recoil, but rubber would have been nicer. Nice to see them come with the rubber grips from the manufacturer now.

Sold it because I was married and had started a family and we needed the money. I can't figure out now how my wife convinced me that it was too much gun. Sure, we needed the money, and our neighbor's house was 12 feet away, but TOO MUCH GUN? Is that possible?

Now I live in rural Missouri with neighbors a quarter mile away and Maggie would sure fit into the scenery now. Too soon we grow old, too late we grow wise.

i just purchased an s&w performance center revolver model 629 .44 mag 7.5 barrel at $960+. I thought it was a good deal for a .44 mag. It originally was a .357 mag on a layaway and exchanged it for this model when I saw it on display on its 1st day. they tell me this gun is not a production gun and is on a very limited availability. Just knowing S&W is what made me trust it plus the look of the gun... man, so mean yet so elegant, very classic looking. can anyone feedback me on this model ?? thnx...

I bought my 329pd the day after drawing a tag for an elk hunt on Alaska's Afognak Island (next to Kodiak). It was a great comfort on my 10-day solo hunt, tucked into a chest pack holster. This thing weighs about a pound and a half... the six rounds of 300 grain hard cast bullets weigh about as much! The light weight made it very easy to carry with a heavy backpack, but it also provides awesome firepower should the need arise. I bought it new at a gun shop for $800, which was $50 less then the Wal-Mart across town. Used ones just weren't available. The frame is a scandium alloy, the cylinder is titanium. The combination is extremely strong and very lightweight.

Shooting .44 special loads is fairly pleasant, but the magnum loads are a terror - after a dozen rounds I had to quit because my trigger finger was bruised and swollen, the result of the trigger guard coming up and hitting it.

I found the wooden grips to be more comfortable and controllable when firing, but rubber grips come standard with the gun. It has a fiber optic, hi-viz front sight, fully adjustable rear sight, a great crisp trigger, and feels wonderfully solid. The 329 gets my vote for the absolute best wilderness defense handgun. It is also my bedside gun at home (with .44 spcl HP's), as I sold an EAA Witness .45 to help make the purchase.

(I did have two bear encounters, one at 60 yards and another at 7, but everyone lived happily ever after - except for one 4x4 elk that I took with my Browning A-Bolt in 30.06.)
