Sig Arms P226 Reviews

Sig is great, I have a P226 in 9mm. I have recenlty become a big fan of FN. I have and Fnp 45 tactical that comes with a rail, threaded barrel and removable milled slide to accept a red dot sight. It's pricey ($1,000), but has a double stack .45 that holds 15, more than any other 45 I am aware of. They also make an FNP .45 that has no threaded barrel or red dot pre drilled slide for about $750

SW is 100% on target and you can forget about a double stack for carrying. I have a friend that is a big man 6'6" ownes 2 gun stores, has 100 personal guns and can carry whatever he wants and I turned him onto the FNP tactical and he loves it and carries it everyday, but that is his size that allows him to do so

Bought my x-five tactical about 8 months ago. It's the most accurate pistol I've ever fired (my pistol experience is not extensive). It was my first firearm purchase. A buddy recommended it and Im glad I listened. It out did the sig 229 and the glock my buddy showed me. The slide locked up about three times that first day out of the box but has not been a problem since. (shoot about every weekend since then with no problem). Overall I love this pistol and look forward to purchasing from Sig again in the future.

My 226 is 22 years old and has served me in law enforcement and as a security consultant for major corporations. I recently replaced the night sights which had lost their glow after two decades, but have never had to do anything else to this firearm except clean it. I haven't even needed to replace the bbl, despite the 10,000 +rounds it has seen. Many of those rounds were law enforcement only +P+ Federal BPLE9, which the 226 handled flawlessly. It has never once jammed or stove piped, even when I tried to get it to malfunction.

Carrying concealed is a function of holster and dress. The Blackhawk Serpa is remarkably comfortable and allows me to carry the 226 under tailored jackets. Though less comfortable, the Bianchi 3S allow me to carry inside the pant (try the small of the back) with long summer shirts.

Get a 226, load it with Corebon +p 110 gr. JHP, and know it will never fail you.

I've had my 226 since 1996. Only time it failed to eject was the first day I purchased it. It failed to eject 3 of the first five rounds fired through it. The remaining ten rounds were fired by someone else and went perfectly. When I exited the range after only one clip, the range owner asked if I knew what I did wrong. When I pointed to the row of staples in my chest he understood. I simply had trouble hanging on to the gun. I had open heart surgery 6 days earlier.

It has never failed to fire or failed to eject since. Don't know exactly how many rounds I've fired through it but suspect it is less than 2000. Compare that to over 10,000 rounds through one of my .22's.

I use this gun for home defense. I am very comfortable with it. The fact that it is a 9mm doesn't bother me. One or two well placed shots is all it takes . And yes, my wife has on occasion fired it with no problems.

I have purchased a Sig Sauer p226, new from a local gun broker . The first shot I took with it the spent shell jammed in the gun and has continued jamming ever since. Now I know you will think that I am "limp wristing it" because I thought this when I read these reviews. And to counter this I have had several other people shoot this gun and it has jammed on all of them. I am confident that this is a defect with the ejecter. So I am returning it to the gun broker who tells me they will send it to the Sig factory to have them look at it. When it returns I will update this with a new comment.

Would I recommend this: NO

I use aftermarket magazines at the range and have noticed a fail to eject 2 or 3 out of 100. It has never failed in any way with the factory mags in thousands of rounds. If your gun is new and you are using the factory mags then the most likely cause is as mentioned by SW-Insured, clean factory lube well then lube with proper gun oil and try it again. The P226 is an icon for Sig and has a very good reputation among law inforcement as well as civilians. Give Sig a chance to check it out and see what happens, I think you will be satisfied in the end.
