Just put down payment on new M9. 399 + tax seemed like a good deal. What's a good range holster for this pistol?? Sights have been replaced wich was a bummer but hopefully I can find a set of the trapezoids to give them a try.

Finally, picked up my m-9 and took it to the range. Absolutely love it. Also got to fire friends s&w m&p in 9mm and glock in 9mm. Everybody agreed the steyr was the best fitting and best shooting out of the three. 150 rounds and no problems at alll. All rounds were fired at 10yds and only had about a dozen stray into the 9 zone.the center was completely gone. Din't plan on using this or concealed carry really but that changed today.

2 more trips to gun range and another 150 rounds. Have shot a mix of federal, remington, winchester(cheap stuff basically) all without problems. Have also fired about 20 rounds each of federal "personal defense" and magtech hollowpoints without any problems. Great gun

good to know the guy that designed glock models is the same guy that designed steyr m40. I just picked up one the m40a1 model. before I did I had it stripped and to find out it has fewer parts like glocks. I think this will stand as reliable as the glocks. glocks are ridiculously reliable, like hk, like sigs.

These pistols are fantastic. I have two 9mm versions: M9 (first series), M9-A1, and a M357-A1(.357 Sig). Have never had a single issue with any of them...they each digest any type of ammo I've used, are quite accurate, and love the sights once I became used to them.

After thoroughly inspecting a m9-a1 and s40-a1 I purchased (along with 2 other friends) a m9-a1. Yesterday I took it out of the box and hammered 200 rounds of wolf and federal +p+ through it, pausing only to reload empty mags. Not one issue! A little getting used to the sights and head shots at 50 ft on a "q" target were not a problem. Glock's worse nightmare! Feels much better in hand as well. Fits the x300 light perfectly. Huge potential ... Only wish for a .45 version and trapezoid nightsights. (Orig posted 4/13/2011 - could not rate via edit so deleted and reposted with rate)

I bought Steyr M9-A1 after just holding it in my hand @ the gun shop. Fit so perfectly! Took it to the range, shot great w/ tight groups. Couple weeks later got a notice of a manufacture recall due to firing pin issue. Sent the gun to Steyr Arms in Alabama (their expense), great turn-around time & I got a free 15rd magazine for my trouble.

Went back to the range, didn't notice any difference, still great! And Steyr Arms is a good company to deal with.
