I am in need of a trigger and spring for a AMT Backup .380. Can some one help?

HELP PLEASE,



I have a newly purchased AMT .45 Back-up with a broken firing pin. Obviously I badly need one/ Apears to ne the only issue with the gun./ I have had many, but never had to replace ANY parts.



ANY info as to how to obtain parts (have tried all the usuals (Gun Parts.com, Numrick, etc...) PLEASE HELP, it or one of same has become my very most favorite carry gun.



Again, any info. PLEASE will be greatly appreciated and perhaps rewarded...or I am off to buy another. Thank God for Gun Shows...just NOT for parts.

First post here. I see that others are looking for AMT parts. High Standard Manufacturing has the needed parts. 1-800-272-7816.They are located in Houston Tx. Hope this helps.

Took the AMT's to the range yesterday for the first time.The 9mm was a shooting machine. At 7 yards I had nothing but head shots for the 40 rounds I sent down range. The 45 with its Wolff extra power spring would not cycle the trigger bar after one shot. I left the stock recoil spring at home so I was not able to switch it back. I strongly feel that the stock spring will fix the problem. If not, I'll just swap the 45 slide and barrel to the 9mm frame and see what happens. Should be good to go. Any thoughts to that out there?

I am interested in hearing how your AMT .45 Backup does.

Would still like to own one of these when they can be deemed consistently reliable.

Finally made it to the range to test fire my AMT backup in 45acp. Well the 9mm ran like a champ,again. But the "firing pin lock" on the 45 slide would work fine for 3-4 rounds, then it would turn about 1/32" and the trigger would not reset. I called High Standard in houston but could not talk to the gunsmith. He refuses to take phone calls because of the "liability issues". I just wanted to know what causes the firing pin lock to move is all. Guess I'll have to send him the slide to get it fixed.

Recoil was not bad. For a 3inch barrel in a all stainless frame it was neither a lamb or a lion. I think my Glock 36 has more recoil than the 45acp Backup. Do not forget that these handguns were designed as BACK UP,your last chance to live a dangerous event. I believe that if ever one has to use a Backup in self defense the trigger would feel like a 2lb trigger and there would be little felt recoil. You most likely would not recall hearing the blast.These are not target range guns that one shoots for pleasure of scoring 10 X's on a bullseye target. They are for up close and personal. Just inherited a double action only backup 380 from my father and so far it has been just an ok gun I bought some sellier and bellot ammo and it seemed to jam one shot out of every five but the remington ammo cycles fine. It makes me wonder how it will perform when I need it most. For a conceled carry gun it is small but being made of stainless steel it is heavy. I also have a Smith and Wesson Sigma .40 and fully loaded it is only about 4 oz. heavier than the AMT.

I have a AMT .45 Backup and it constantly jammed UNTIL I performed a careful "fluff and buff". The darn thing has not jammed since then as long as I use FMJ. It still does not feed 100% reliably with JHP. But the action is silky smooth now. So, if you're having any troubles with your AMT, then do a "fluff and buff". You'll be happy you did......

Hi, I have a AMT 380 DAO Backup purchased new approximately 12 years ago. I loaded it with Winchester 85 grain silvertip hollow points and put it in the dash of my car. Never fired it until 3 weeks ago. My daughter is going on the County Sheriff's Office and wanted a subcompact auto pistol to carry off duty. I looked this gun up, and printed the Manual for it. Never got one when purchased. I read where it was designed for FMJ bullets and purchased 50 of them. Took her to the local firing range to test fire it to see if she wanted it. It performed very well with all 50 shots run through it. Then I loaded the origonal hollow points I had bought with the gun. The first one fired and the second jammed. I didn't shoot any more. I took the gun to a local gunsmith and had it polished throughout. Then I purchased 20 of MAGTECH GUARDIAN GOLD 380 AUTO+P JHP shells. Is the +P OK to shoot in this gun? Want to know the safety before I try them. Any help is appreciated.
