Really stupid question

Postby biggunz » Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:54 am

I just sold my Sig 1911 .45 and never got to fire it...but I got a much better deal that way...the story goes...A friend bought it brand new...a day later i wanted to sell my motorcycle...he wanted the bike instead...so with some cash and the .45 he got the bike...now the stupid questiom...another friend is wanting to sell his M&P .45...I have heard nothing but good about them...his gun is less than a year old (he says) and he only wants 250 for it...but he said he has had one problem with it...he says it is a 10 round mag and it shows that on the mag but he can only get 9 in it? is this a problem? just wanting to know since I am not familiar with the M&p...thanks

The full size M&P .45 has a mag capacity of 10 rounds. It is My assumption that Your Friend is not exerting enough pressure to seat the 10th round, since stiff magazine springs are common on some models. Even if the magazine isn't functioning properly (most likely not the case), simply buy new magazines. $250 for an almost new M&P is a steal; jump on it!

Thanks for the response. since I got 950 for the sig...I went ahead and got the M&P for 250 I got a paddle holster and 4 100 count boxes of target ammo with the deal...it looks great and I actually fired it last night at the range....but I am thinking my friend is right...I too could not get more than 9 rounds in either mag...I am a pretty big guy...and do not consider myself a weakling at all....lol...but for the life of me that 10 th one just would not go in the mags.

Was the gun/mags used much? Try loading the mags up and leaving them full for a few days, that might loosen up the spring a bit.

Late last night another friend who had heard came over and was able to cuss some but got 10 in one and I used the exact same language and was able to get 10 in the other...he did say that that was the most difficult time he has ever had in any mag....thanks to all who responded.
