Are new S & W revolvers inferior?

So many shooters will tell you "If you want a good S&W revolver you have to get an old one." The new ones use MIM (Metal Injection Molding) and are therefore not as good as the old ones. I am not a metallurgist but is metal injection molding really infrior?

MIM is used for the small parts and the process is pretty good.

computer machining and tolerance checks is so accurate you can,t match it .hey but theres something to be said about a master craftmens expertise.a good reason old s&w revolvers command top resale value....

What does it mean when you say something is good? What are you trying to get out of it? Do you want it to outlive you? The auto industry is the perfect example, what happened to all that steel? It was replaced by plastic. MIM parts are used due to labor cost. You couldnt get people to polish and do lots of hand work on anything and keep your prices down. SW, Colts and many others have had to adjust. Thats just the way its going to be. Id rather buy a new revolver to "shoot" than an old one. My 2c.
